What would you do on Saturday?

We're down obviously. I'm normally pretty positive about stuff but we've been down for months as far as I'm concerned. We're unlucky to have imploded in a season where other bottom teams have done so exceptionally well and the survival line is so high, we're unlucky to have lost our two best players to injury as they both came back into form, but we thoroughly deserve to go down. How many must-win games and last chances have we blown. We beat Charlton and looked good for survival but if you can't beat Burnley, or even put up a fight, at home in the biggest game of your season then you thoroughly deserve to go down.

SO, we're down...BUT...technically and highly theoretically we could stay up if other results go our way and, most importantly, we get the right result.

After a season of the wrong results, low-scoring games and lots of goals conceded...how would you go about trying to win a game by the margins we require?

We're down anyway so it doesn't really matter if we go for it and it doesn't work, but go for it we must.

I'd drop Johnson and Gorkss for a start, both useless and Johnson doesn't deserve to play football again, let alone for us - he's got two years left on his contract and Morgan can start to heal the gaping wounds with the fans by having him wander the carpark on matchdays with a bucket of soap and water, cleaning cars. We might never play in the Prem again, we should make damn sure that Johnson doesn't get to. Let's play Batth and go a bit mental and play Craddock, he can't do any worse!

Let's play Robinson and Doherty, neither finished articles but largely untainted and they are energetic.

Let's play the Welsh lad we bought in January in midfield, alongside Doumbia, with Hunt on the left, Hunt captain for the game as the one player who never gave up and the one player who defied his many loud critics.

Not sure about who goes on the right, Saunders famously said we are overwhelmed with choices, though I can't think of any! I'd keep Sako out unless his injury is definitely okay, I think we should battle like crazy to keep him and we need him fighting fit and firing come August.

Doyle and Sigurdarson upfront, both have been decent. Not great but dim lights in an otherwise pitch black season.

I'd tell them to forget any tactics they've ever been told and play like they're teenagers in the park on a Saturday with jumpers for goalposts. We might lose ten nil but, at this point, it hardly matters...and we might just surprise ourselves and everybody else, it's never too late for your first good performance of the season!

Thanks Fritz. It's so obvious isn't it though - don't batter Brighton and we go down for sure, what's the alternative?

What is Ulf?

Its good to see Hunt show his usefulness, he should have had more game time last season for a start, always 100% just had a downturn in form that made people turn on him.

Saturday should be about pride - Saunders should be working to turn out a team of players who are willing and able to compete for a win at Brighton. If for no other reason than that they owe that to us and to themselves.

Any player not up for that should be left behind - simple.

It's not a time to experiment, to play the kids etc. It's a time to demand of well-paid professionals that they finally deliver a performance.

Unfortunately it appears all too likely that Dean Saunders lacks the ability to motivate and organize this group of players to do this. However, one can only hope that we all have some degree of self-respect left as 5.00pm approaches on Saturday.

You are wrong onejohnnyrichards. Saturday should not be about pride. Every game should be about pride. That is the least that we should expect.

The team may lack skill, talent and technique, but there is absolutely no excuse for not putting the effort in to ensure that they do not come off the pitch without giving everything.

We shouldn't expect that in the last game of the season but in EVERY game of the season.

If every game should be about pride, and on Saturday we have a game...

then surely Saturday should be about pride?

I don't disagree Cyp - but it has been lacking and I make the point only that after last Saturday's dismal effort we all have a right to expect something more. It's probably the last time in Old Gold for many of that team. I'd like to be able to remember them with some respect for a final overdue fighting performance worthy of the shirt.

I remember years ago someone told me I should take caution when it comes to Wolves...
