Liverpool fans will spell out their gratitude to Merseyside rivals Everton for the support offered over the Hillsborough disaster during Sunday's derby at Anfield.
Fans in the Kop will each raise a card just before kick-off to form a mosaic that will simply say 'THANKS', according to Liverpool's official website.
Everton have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with their city rivals in support of justice for the families of the 1989 disaster, which claimed the lives of 96 Reds fans.
Sunday's tribute is the brainchild of Daily Mirror journalist Brian Reade, and Liverpool managing director Ian Ayre has hailed the gesture as the 'coming together' of the city.
'I want to take the opportunity to thank Bill Kenwright and Everton fans for their continued support for the families and victims of the Hillsborough disaster,' said Ayre.
'It is the coming together of the families, supporters and the city that has made the huge breakthroughs of the last 12 months possible.
'Rivalry on the pitch and banter on the terraces are healthy things and are an important part of being a football supporter in this city. They are an important part of the derby atmosphere.
'However, it is the unity of both clubs and both sets of supporters when it’s most needed that make our relationship so unique.'
Liverpool are seeking volunteers to help lay the 12,390 cards needed to form the mosaic on Saturday at 10.30am

The hostility rarely comes.from proper scousers who know what is like to have families split red and blue. The hostility I believe comes.from the idiotic fans not from our city who don't know what it means to be scouse. Although saying that, the Norwegians don't strike me as an aggressive bunch but then they do have Viking blood I suppose!!!
Back to the op though and it will ne q gesture

Brilliant gesture and fully deserved after all the support from Everton right from the beginning, and especially after Kenwrights words at the anniversary a couple of weeks ago.
