Sofa so good

Unable to make the trip so second best was my sister's sofa with Sky Sports.

Nothing second best about the first half performance. Simply magnificent. Three brilliantly executed goals (even if, for those who might not have seen it yet, the second was a yard off-side!)

Sky commentators were screaming for Damo to be red carded (whilst totally ignoring an elbow by Hanson on Bob). No complaints about a pen as it clearly hit his arm, but he was trying to get in a block and a dismissal would have been very harsh.

Zander imperious, Mags a torment, Robbie everywhere.

But..................feet on the ground, it ain't over yet.

As clinical as our finishing was, the Bantams missed some shockers. Even with three centre backs they were finding spaces and will surely not be so wasteful again on Sunday. Tommo was far from commanding and nearly dropped one in. Unlucky with the second - the deflection gets bigger with each replay. And as brilliant as Calvin was at holding the ball up for 65 minutes, it was coming straight back once he took his well earned rest.

So no room for complacency, we've still got a game to win.

But top marks for tonight. The plan worked. Every faith that they will come up with another for Sunday to see us through.

Can't wait.

A great game of football with a bit of everything. The first half the Brewers gave Bradford nothing and closed down just about every ball. Bradford just did not know what to do with Zola and Mags and was at times The Zola and Mags Show in the first half.
Tommo did ok , but he did rush out of goal a few times when he should have let others deal with the ball.
I was very unsure about the one man up front pre-match as we never seem to do that well with it.
What way will GR play the home tie? you would say two up front on home soil. Bradford will lick their wounds and come Sunday they will want to spoil our party. That first goal will be so important and if its Zola and Co who bag one first, not only will the roof of the Pirelli go off, Bradford will be undone.
With this game being the last home game and a draw or win taking us to Wembley, The Brewers should be ready to give Bradford no time or space to do nothing.

COME ON YOU BREWERS

I like most didn't like the way we set up - only one up front has not worked for us all season. However, Rowett got it exactly right and our 4141 formation completely outfoxed Bradford who looked a tired team until half way through the second half.

Zola, Mags and Diamond were simply outstanding and the fact that Nahki Wells spent the whole match on his backside wanted fouls tells us we got the tactics right!

Don't think the Referee was poor at all Edinburgh Bantam he missed a horrendous elbow from Hanson on Holness which broke the defenders nose and should have been a straight red card. It is swings and rounds abouts and the result was not as bad for Bradford as it should have been!

Sunday now becomes a Cup final and I don't believe that Bradford will play as badly again - we have to be up for it, in their faces and most importantly as JFW says get the first goal.

Think it will be tight!

Have to say I was pleasantly surprised how we played.Rowett obviously had a plan. The players obviously believed in it and they all played superbly.Maybe little old Burton should apologise for not rolling over like some Premier sides have this season. We have obviously upset sky as well because having just watched the game again having been there I couldn't, believe how bias towards Bradford the commentators were.Yes Zola was off side, tough, yes maybe McCory should have been sent off but he was actually falling down before the guy shot.Yes the referee missed a blatant elbow from Hanson so maybe that equalled things out.On the way home I listened to talk sport.A so called expert seems to think Bradford only have to turn up on Sunday to win.
Remember this,a fact everyone seems to have forgot is that Little Old Burton have the best home record in the football league this season.
Bradford be warned.

I've not seen a re-run of the Hanson-Holness incident so I can't comment, but ignore the Talksport" Experts", they all seem to make ridiculous statements just to get people to phone in. I put them in the same bracket as Savage on BBC 606.

Sunday's result could hinge on which is the fitter team as the match kicks off 60 hours after the first leg ended. Also it will be interesting to see how the players cope with an unfamiliar noon start. At this time of the season rest and recovery is very important particularly after playing over 60 games.

The people who matter -Phil Parkinson and the City squad do not think of you as Little Old Burton and realise they need to improve to make a game of it in the second leg.

Still buzzing from last nights brilliant result , we are at half time as everyone has said ,we need to aproach the match as if it were a league game starting 0-0 ,looking forward to a full house a fabulous atmosphere ,i just hope no one thinks the job is done . I remember us many moons ago going to Matlock in the semi final of the trophy and winning 2-1, coaches were booked for wembley in advance and Matlock came and spoilt the party with a 2-0 win . I hope history doesnt repeat itself , the first goal may be important it may not ,we need to believe we are good enough .My gut feeling is that Bradford will score twice on sunday , so we need to match them .As Gary Rowett said we are going to throw the kitchen sink at them ,bring it on.

We won 1-0 at Matlock and lost 2-0 at home.

I'm still haunted by that match Ady/Stuart. Such was the extent of the publics disappointment at the feeble, timmid performance in the 2nd leg that attendances plummetted to 400-500 and the club sank into almost mortal decline. We didn't recover until Neil Warnocks arrival in 1981.

Fantastic game last night, could have easily ended up 4-5 what with McGrath's one-on-one and McDonald clipping the bar, plus various heart-in-the-mouth moments for Bradford.

Rowett's tactics were spot-on - I just hope in the home leg you stick to what has served you so well at the Pirelli this season, not be tempted to sit on the 1 goal lead.

Either way, I'll be cheering you on

BREWERRRRRRRS!
