Ally, surely if these jobs need done then the people doing them should be payed a decent wage.
Private companies take advantage of this to increase profit, but is that fair to competitors or the workers who are doing the jobs for as little as 1/2 the minimum wage in states where they even have a minimum wage.

Indentured servitude.

I knew you would see the "positives" though.

Quebbie - how do you propose to employ people who have been "professional" dole-ites?

They have no work experience, they have no employable skills, as I said you dont even know if they will turn up at all never mind on time!

Training is an massive expense! so let them prove their worth!! I dont see why people in the UK if "unemployed" dont goto college and seek skills that will improve their employability!

If I desperately wanted a job with a specific employer would I be prepared to work for free to prove my worth?

You are damn tooting I would!

If I desperately wanted to work for an employer I would move my family to show my commitment to that employer!

You see when big Mogga came to Parkhead he didnae have this commitment

FFS how much can it cost to train a guy to pick up litter?
It's a job that needs doing. What I'm saying is if it needs doing PAY a decent wage to some cant to do it. And don't force unemployed folk to do it for a pittance.

Health and safety rules in the UK - well thats 1 month sorted, to make sure he/she bends properly

This is the type of job that is "beneath" many!

I think they get "overpaid" to sit on their erses!

Lastly - that was one of the embarassing sights when doing my marathon training the amount of rubbish lying on Glasgows streets - ABYSMAL
