Has anyone considered that maybe just maybe

Motes might hit the ground running?

He hasn't won trophies sure but that doesn't make him bad. I have always thought he has done a good job with Everton, probably better and more consistent than most would have. Not to mention the length of time he has been there - stability.

City and Chelsea are hardly the patron saints of stable at the moment. If Jose goes back to Chelsea, there's a lot of work to do and lord knows what kind of summer city might have in terms of ins and outs.

What if Moyes wins his first PL trophy next year? It's not outside the realms of possibility, all I really see is hoping to stay in the top 4.

I would give him and the team a bit more credit than that.

Everton do have a very good team... that's the point, team. United could probably field 2 half decent prem sides with the players they've got, Everton's problem is past the first 11 they just don't have enough

dont understand why United fans are a bit taken aback by Moyes appointment.

He has been touted as the eventual successor for years now.

I actually think he could do better in the short term than the long term. This team has been so adept at winning football matches that it could perhaps run on autopilot (similar to what Chelsea did under Grant).

Whether Moyes can overcome the challenges he'll face and win a trophy straight away isn't gauranteed, however.

Darren whats your thoughts on Moyes possible appointment?

Not overly impressed, to be honest. He'll get my support though.

I must be one of the few who thinks he will do a great job and hit the ground running.

I do hope he chooses his own transfer targets and does something about our midfield, something SAF wouldnt have addressed this summer.

I hope so too. As I've said, I do think he'll do ok to start with as he's inheriting Fergie's team. This team aren't going to forget how to play football over night.

Just a little dissapointed as I only think Moyes can take us so far whereas I believe there are other managers more befitting the job.

Hopefully he'll do great though and if he buys a midfielder I'll be overjoyed.

Darren I think he will. Every man and his dog bar SAF can see how poor our midfield is.

If he doesn't I'll be of the opinion that Fergie will have his hand firmly placed up Moyes' àrse.

and only an ignoramus will argue about mourinho's credential as a manager so I am done arguing with you.

Only an ignoramus would assume that Mourinho is gods gift to football coaching, so I am done arguing with you!
