F1 Gran Premio De Espana 2013 Race Thread

The calm before the storm, the lights are on, look but don’t stare and its go! Go! Go! Ladies and Gentlemen, hello and welcome to ManUtdDaredevil’s official Formula 1 Gran Premio De Espana 2013 race thread. Surprisingly, Bahrain delivered an excellent race unfortunately he who must not be named won at a canter

The mighty scrap between Button and Perez was great to watch and the tantrum thrown by Button was completely out of character . So with a few teams bringing upgrades to this race, could there be a resurgence from McLaren? Will Mercedes finally figure out how to convert quail pace to race pace? Will Newey bring some illegal parts and will Lotus finally get quail and the race right? Who knows?

As usual you can read all the boring stuff about the track, history and all that jazz from F1.com. I'll stick with the fun stuff.

Let’s get down to business. Catalunya extends its welcome to the Formula One road show and this track generally gives you an indication as to who has got a decent car. Maldonado won here last year and we saw an awesome drive from Hamilton from the back of the grid to finish a place ahead of his team mate. His lap time in quail last year was a full half second ahead of anyone so he could be up there at quail again. My pick for the race win is Alonso though. So without further ado, let's begin;

A few facts

Round five of the 2013 FIA Formula One World Championship sees the teams journey to the Circuit de Catalunya for the Spanish Grand Prix. After beginning the year with four long haul races, the European season starts here – with a return to the circuit that hosted two-thirds of this year’s pre-season testing

Given the evidence of the first four races in 2013, Pirelli have decided to move away from the Hard/Soft allocation favoured in Spain for the past two years, and instead will bring the Hard and Medium compounds. The Hard, however, is not the tyre that saw use in Malaysia and Bahrain. Pirelli have tweaked their offering, making it closer to that used in 2012 which may affect the performance of Mercedes

Starting from pole at this circuit has historically been the key to victory: 18 times from the 22 races, the driver starting P1 has won the race.

Generally that means you are trying too hard to convince people which generally implies it wasn't all that.

You always conveniently forget he was allowed to change his set up.

Webbers drive in China in 2011 was better as was Buttons drive in Canada

Which car is worse, Mclaren's this year or Ferrari's last year?
