Liverpool came from behind to win against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday afternoon in the Premier League.
The first half of the game was a dull affair and very much had an end-of-season feel about it. However, Fulham took the lead just after the half-hour mark and this brought the match to life.
Sascha Riether received the ball on the right hand side despite being offside, and he crossed it in for Dimitar Berbatov to head in from six yards.
But just three minutes later, Liverpool were level. Andre Wisdom hit a long ball forwards and Daniel Sturridge brought it down. He then lifted it over Aaron Hughes before swivelling outside him and lashing it into the roof of the net with his right foot.
In the second half, Fulham may have had a penalty when the ball struck Lucas's raised arm in the area, but Mark Halsey waved away the protests. Sturridge put Liverpool ahead just after the hour mark when Philippe Coutinho's shot deflected into his path. He took a touch before slotting it into the bottom left corner. This goal also meant that Liverpool broke their record for the number of away goals they have scored in a Premier League season.
With five minutes remaining, Sturridge completed his hat-trick. Coutinho received the ball and threaded a brilliant pass from the centre circle to the striker, and he took it forward before lifting it brilliantly over the onrushing Mark Schwarzer and into the far corner.
Despite the win, Liverpool can no longer finish higher than seventh due to Everton's win at home to West Ham United. Liverpool will finish off their season at home to Queens Park Rangers next Sunday.
