Read the comments at the bottom of the article, the Norwich fans clearly think it's a wind up and probably is...or is it?

This is difficult to believe, so I am not doing for the present, but......

I know a couple of very ardent and knowledgable Norwich City supporters, and they do not believe that Holt could possibly cut it in the Premiership. In truth they are amazed that he knocked in so many last season, and a bit embarrassed by what they see as a lack of sophistication, football wise, and his tendency to portliness. Maybe he was just a perfect fit for this Norwich side at this time, and would struggle to repeat his form elsewhere - that does happen.

But at £2m he'd arguably be worth the gamble?

I hope you get him....then you can leave Shane Long alone.

I'd be amazed if this was true! Firstly, why would Norwich want to sell? I wouldn't be surprised if Lambert has his reservations about Holt's potential effectiveness at PL level, but they don't need the money and he was their top scorer last season so they might as well give him a chance.

Secondly, he hardly fits the bill concerning what Sven's been looking for in a striker. Maynard, Long and CMS are all pretty rapid and flashy, whereas Holt is more solid and fleshy. If we're ever in need of a big lump up front, then we've got super Stevie to bring on and give us another dimension.

Lazy journalism, and for the record BiscuitBeale I too hope that we leave Long well alone. To blow 8 million on a bloke with one good season under his belt is nothing short of madness and any Prem team rolling in enough money to take the hit are welcome to do just that. I've got a mate who supports Reading and he says Long is nowhere near as good as Kevin Doyle and he only cost Wolves 6 million. I understand and respect why Reading are quoting such a high price because he was your star performer last season and it's your prerogative to ask for whatever you want, but no player is realistically worth more than 5 million at this level and I'd rather Sven looked elsewhere. Maynard has always been his no.1 target and I think he's still hopeful that Bristol's resolve might soften as September approaches and that contract still remains unsigned.

Official Norwich Twitter: "Absolutely no truth in Daily Mail story saying we've accepted bid for Grant Holt from Leicester. Our captain's not for sale."

Shame but never really got my hopes up over this one.

This is Madness you're right Shane Longs price tag is Madness...(sorry couldn't help it) but look at Andy Carroll he scored 17 goals in the championship, a couple in the Prem and suddenly he's worth £35 million.
