Just been looking at our existing squad, wondering who might be going. We have 35 in the professional squad. I reckon:
GOING or ALMOST CERTAINLY GOING
Stan: Unfortunately, as we all know
Ireland: Shut-out so complete there's no way back for him
Makoun: Agreement with Lille to make loan permanent
Dawkins: Temporary loan, don't see it being taken further
PROBABLY GOING
Bent: Too good to stay as squad player, needs another club
Given: Same situation as Bent
Dunne : Contract up. Just possible Lambert might keep him for his experience as a back-up, but probably not
Delfouneso: Doing OK on loan at Blackpool, still used in England
U21s, possible Lambert might want him back, probably not
POSSIBLY GOING
N'zogbia: Done much better this season, depends on how Lambert sees the long term
Albrighton: Out with injury; how does Lambert see him?
Herd: Not really figured this season
JUST MIGHT BE GOING (DON'T THINK SO, BUT YOU NEVER KNOW)
Bannan: Probably stay as midfield backup
Holman: Likewise, midfield backup
Stevens: Been out through injury, but probably OK
Marshall: Useful as 3rd goallie, think he also coaches
Overall, I reckon it means probably at least 8 and maybe as many as 11 might go. Frees up quite a lot in wages, which can be used to keep our new stars, and attract more. Also room to promote more youngsters to the squad if ready.
Main gap it would leave would be if Given goes. Would we look for another backup goalkeeper, or promote Siegrist?
Our squad...

the problem with shaktar players is that they are very expensive. i guess the same applies to porto as well though.
if we are paying top dollar i would rather someone who is more proven.
moutinho may be overated, but so was modric. bring overated doesnt mean they are not good!
the relationship moutinho has with AVB is also another bonus.. AVB would know exactly what he is getting.

he is aplayer than always dissapointed me when I have seen him
Moutinho, Gago and Gourcuff - 3 players who were destined to be top top players and failed in my view..
Strootman is another who Spurs should be looking to sign as well

strootman is good. i like him.
i was hoping spurs would go in for eriksen but it seems he is destined to join dortmund. who can blame him

Seems so, Dortmund are a very attractive option for any top player atm, they are actually after Benteke as well according to some as a replacement for Lewandowski..
You can take Bent back he is proven

bent
spurs shopping list this summer should be as follows.
1 left back. someone on the continent for around 5 mill.
1 modric style midfielder - 15mill-20mill
1 wing forward/forward - remy style 10 mill
1 top striker - 20 mill
that is a serious spend though, and we would have to shift a few players to be getting anywhere near that kind of spend.

Unproven players are always a gamble but worth it if you grab a Benteke/Michu type player, good players don't always (in fact rarely) come out of top team academies. But then again there is the bad side that they could flop, if they have an off few months fans get on there back labelling them as useless and the player starts to believe it and then they end up as Francis Jeffers

Herd has been injured for most of the season.
Priority is an experienced central defender, central midfielder and SELL BENNETT.

i very much doubt bale will be sold. all these people talking about quallfying for the CL means that we will either sell bale or not simply dont understand spurs.
whether we get in the cl or not is totally irrelevant as to whether or not levy will sell bale.
if an offer high enough for levy comes in (unlikely - would be truly huge) then he wont be sold, regardless of europe or CL. if an offer big enough does come in, then it will be accepted, regardless of europa and cl.

The thing about being players from abroad, or the lower leagues for that matter, is that you need to do your research before you buy. Lambert has clearly done that with all the players he bought. He looks not just at the technical skills but the person as well. He wants players who will fit in, will work their socks off and who will grow up quickly.
Strikes me that Hughes at QPR didn't do that; he just went for big, and expensive, names. If Spurs put the research into foreign players, they could buy good bargains like us.
