As cricket hits the headlines again for the wrong reasons I'm sick and tired of constantly hearing the same rubbish spouted about by people on fixing in cricket. People seem to think it's a nations problem, a continents problem, i.e. Asia, but what they fail to realise is corruption or fixing is a sport problem, not just cricket.
I have said this time and time again. Those individuals in sport, who wish to take drugs by cheating, fix or corrupt to earn more bills are to blame, not those who supply. The simple reason for that is those bookmakers will never go away, but surely sportsman playing at the highest level can say no.
I will never understand a sportsman playing at the highest level of any sport, earning enough bills, whereby he can do more than put food on the table for the family, going and deciding to fix a major sporting event. Greed is the only reason that comes to mind.
The biggest sport in the world is more corrupt then you can imagine, whether it's the fixing in Italy or the bribery by FIFA. It's happening everywhere, pure and simple. Those guys that sit in boardrooms in their Calvin Klein suits, who try to tell us corruption will never go away when in fact they are corrupt themselves.
Unfortunately, corruption or fixing will never go away in sport. There have been numerous sports in the past year that have been under the spotlight due to the fact that corruption has taken place. Those outside of sport will continue to make the money, one way in which you can eradicate corruption is by constantly locking up those who corrupt in sport. It won't stop corruption, but it will make those thinking of cheating, think twice or else it is a few years in pen.
Corruption & Fixing Is A Sport Problem!

Fact taker,
Thank you for your response. Firstly, I apologise for your own lack of knowledge of understanding my post. Obviously, I was not referring to the whole Indian nation, and the comment was directed at Indian cricket – see article for further assistance – the fact it’s on a C.R.I.C.K.E.T forum might give you a slight clue to the fact that I was talking in a cricketing context
Secondly, what’s all this nonsense about British rule? Some paks and Indians need to stop blaming current failures on the British, that was 60 years ago. The corruption, deceptions, lies and destortations in both countries are the fault of their very own “leaders” as opposed to British rule in the early 90s.
Finally, yes other nations do have a problems, that’s obvious (see my other comments on other threads, ive never denied that), but what you fail to realise or delibrately ignore is that fact that even with the match fixing scandals of the past, they are all linked back to India. Recent Pakistani case, last year’s IPL, jadeja, azurdeen, and even if you go back to the 90s of Cronje and Rhodes and warne etc., all were still linked to bookmakers in India. That is an undeniable fact.
Now you have an ex Indian player that’s turned bookmaker and an Indian international involved- can it get any worse??? On top of that the BCCI is thinking of pressing charges against them. Also, the indian tv channels and press have gone quiet about the issue as have the IPL organisers – further damaging indian credibility and that of the IPLS.
You call yourself FACT TAKER….. Above are the facts. Take them!!!!
Also, from your previous comments, you seem to label everyone an indian “hater” who disagrees with anything the BCCI or india do – just open your mind a bit bud

the fact is these 3 players are not going to get away with just 5 years of ban. Lifetime ban is the minimum they will get plus jail. I personally think a strong example needs to be made. Most of the corruption happens in asia because all the bookies linked to cricket are asians, more specifically indians. They are probably more involved but hopefully a lifeban to these 3 will set an example.

First off, Pakistan are not the only ones doing the fixing, they have been a part of it, but boy are they are not the only ones. Fixing, taking drugs, corruption...Pretty much everyone does it in some aspect in sport. That is what you are failing to realise.

Afridi..
Do u think that I was born yesterday or can't read what you wrote. Read your comments as it is so clear as any kid would get it. Just repeating what you wrote, "Agree amir. The Indians are a disgrace". Now where is the confusion you are trying to blame on me. Its a FACT as you wrote it and no one else wrote it. I don't know you nor intend to but please act in a responsible adult human being as life is too short for these kind of games. Even kids will understand and they won't be confused but you like to twist or hide your feelings. I can understand if some one from Pakistan dislikes India and I still respect them as long as they are straightforward and not like you.
Now regarding British rule you may have your opinion which we may not agree but the FACT is lot of hatred between these two Nations was born by Britisher's policy of divide and rule. Still in today's time I feel that it is going on but this site is not worth to bring regarding that since it is a cricket website. I only brought it before because of your utter crap hate-filled statement.
I don't want to go on with any further discussion on this topic as I feel there is no point in beating a dead horse but I will finish it up regarding your claim that most of fixing is done in India. You claim that all is related to one specific country which again I don't have to agree. I do feel that in all in all it may be more prevalent in Asia due to cricket being so popular in that region but you can't ignore other countries like South Africa, Australia, England and others. My opinion is that corruption is in every sport and lot can be controlled or removed as long as players don't sell their souls for the money. You named Indian players mainly but forgot other instances like of ball tampering (Imran khan,Afridi et al) and I can go and on but my intent is not to put the blame on one single country as you do. You also claim that I am fond of BCCI which you are absolutely incorrect and I don't label anyone as you do. We may differ on our opinions and I respect that but to put any country down seems more like hatred or similar to racist views done by white folks to Asians. I don't know how old are you but I hope you mature with time instead of using your energy in negative thinking.
Again good luck in your life as I don't want any further talks on this site on these topics as it is a sports website.

Lets sum this up by copying and pasting viru's post above. He seems like the only genuine Indian cricket fan on here alongside Singh Saab;

Wow.. It seems there is no point discussing anything with you as you act in a very childish way although quite hateful style. You are trying to ignore your comment and change the topic to these current players scandal. I don't know other folks and they can have their opinions which I respect but what is got to do with your original nasty statement. You trying to copy paste their comment which I already know but avoid your comment with extreme vulgarity. And of-course these cricketers won't be supported or protected by their franchises or board and will be punished very harshly unlike some other boards who like to protect or play the blame game to others. After your responses I don't want to or feel to discuss anything with you as you have proved with your cunning responses. I am sorry that with such brief interaction with you here in this site happened this way as I really wanted to enjoy discussing cricket rather than your drivel . I am kind of new here and noticed that few folks like you must have destroyed this site just like one fish is enough to spoil the whole pond. Still I wish you best in your life and to all Pakistanis. Hope cricket is resumed there soon and it will be good for all good, honest cricket fans all over the world.
