It looks like the conspiracy theorists are out as Girona's President said Villarreal had something to do with their shock loss to Xerez.
I think it's just bitterness, or perhaps he is trying to ensure Xerez give their all against Villarreal.
Has anyone seen this?

This sort of issue goes on in Spain every season.
Xerez were already relegated last week, so they weren't expected to put up much of a fight in Girona.
The thing is that even though no one openly admits to doing it, offering incentives for a team to WIN isn't viewed as match fixing, because winning is supposed to be their aim all the same.
