People are going way over the top with him.
Now I agree he's been very productive at times and without him we'd be in a lot of trouble but many fans are massively overrating the lad.
There's been many games this season where he just hasn't looked interested, had the touch of a serial rĂ¡pist and wouldn't have looked out of place on my 5-aside team.
At Arsenal we have a tendency to overrate our players and it wasn't so long ago many claimed Adebayor > Drogba.
Walcott has done some things very well this season and at least an equal amount of things awfully. He's got talent and is improving but lets not get ahead of ourselves here.
Walcott.

Are people really overrating him?

He's a good player but I don't see him becoming your next Henry, Wright or Anelka. I think Giroud and Podolski have shown that they can be good players but you definitely lack that striker who can win games single-handedly. I don't think Remy is the answer (seen you linked with him) but I could be mistaken. You need to spend to find that player who will take you to the next level. Cavani? Not sure how serious the reports are linking you with him but he is the calibre of player your board should be hounding after shafting your fans by selling Fabregas, Nasri and Rvp only to replace them with sub-standard players, apart from Cazorla who looks very good sometimes
A lot of deadwood to shift out i.e Gervinho.
You might be in for a busy summer!

I disagree, most fans understand his downfalls, at the same time you have to appreciate he has gotten us out of trouble, his goals have been key he is one of our best finishers we have

the weird thing is that walcott has actually divided fans down the middle.
there are those that aren't convinced, and there are those who are obsessed with him, and are convinced he's the new henry - personally, i think those people are fooling themselves into loving him because they've been frustrated by the lack of english talent on arsenal's books until now.
imagine you brought in someone who had never seen walcott play, who doesn't know his age, and who knows absolutely nothing about him, and sat that person in front of three walcott performances back-to-back - if you then asked that person to guess walcott's age, chances are they'd say around 18-19.
