Guys, I see that these rumours of Reina leaving Anfield are not going away. My question is if he does leave, who do you think, you will replace him with, realistically?
The reason why I say that is because Shay Given is set to leave Villa. He wants first team football, but unfortunately he won't get it here. We all know he is a top, top bloke, who in truth is still good enough to play at the top level. But, my question is would you go for him?
However, I would like to say, even though Given has been at Villa for only two season and in truth only fully played a part in one. He has been a top professional at the club and it is a shame he has to go. But, to be honest he is more than good enough to be sitting on a bench. I hope he finds a top club to play at because he deserves it.
Shay Given Set To Leave Aston Villa...

Amir there is a thread below about keepers but i think many here agree that Asmir Begovic is an ideal replacement.
Anyway how about Carroll and Downing for Benteke?

In that article it says he'll stay if a deal can't be done with Barca. I'd like to keep Reina but its Barca and if he wants away then fine but it should be more than £8m!

No Fackin chance! I'm so glad we took the money for Downing and ran. But, if Benteke does leave (which he won't) it will be for a club playing CL football. Dortmund or Arsenal are the most likely destinations.

I don't think it's a Given that Barca want Reina.

You and i both know it's practically done kls.
They need a goalie, reina is probably weary and has learnt of how torres handled his transfer and the backlash he got after giving it loads about staying to fight,so won't make the same mistake.
Xabi alonso wanted out,but handled it in a way reina will be in keeping with.
Arbeloa was the same, when the big two come calling, very few pass on it whatever team there at,even if it ruins their careers in the long run.

I agree with you mate but to let him go for just £8m when he's got 3 years left on his deal, isn't right. We got £30m for Xabi!

You should let him go for at least 14mil. Anything, under 10 and you have not got your worth for a great player.

I know what ya saying kls,but the fact is,our selling on policy of players in general has been absolutely shocking, with the exception of torres and xabi,(money we wasted on aquilani and carroll) i can't think of many others that we've made a very good profit on.
Mascherano was bought for £17m for example, and all we got back was what we paid even though he was one,if not the best DM's in the world at the time, and under a few years contract, but because it's barca or real madrid, foreign players in england usually force the clubs hand.

If he's not good enough for Villa why would he be good enough for us Amir

you sound deluded. do you honestly believe you have better players in every position to aston villa... I would take villas goalkeepers over liverpools anyday. besides you are not even a champions league team. you haven't been for years and wont be for the foreseeable future.. shay given is more than decent enough to play for Liverpool even if he cant get a game at small club villa. its only cause guzan has been one of the best keepers in the league that he didn't get a game
