A season in Review

Good review of the season here....

http://celticjournal.org/celtic-stats-201213-season/

One part that caught the eye...

"TOP PLAYERS THIS SEASON

Most effective: Gary Hooper, involved in 80% of goals for matches played in. Hooper also played the most matches this season with 51 games.
Second most effective: Kris Commons, involved in 78% of goals for matches played in.
Others of note: Anthony Stokes, involved in 69% of goals for matches played in. Georgios Samaras, involved in 57.5% of goals for matches played in. Charlie Mulgrew, involved in 46% of goals for matches played in."

You forget the influence that Hooper can have in a game where he doesn't score and also I have been guilty of a lot of criticism of Stokes....but again his involvement in goals considering his lengthy injury spell is impressive....

Im not a mathematician butthose figures dont add up

if Hooper was involved in 80% and played almost every game then how can Commons be involved in 78% ???

Im confused

Can we clarify what involved means?

CT I assume it was involvement in the whole move the created the goal, an early pass for instance, not the actual assist pass directly leading to the goal but an earlier one.

That is my thoughts only, good chance I am gibbering

So the pass before the assist = involved?

Then we could split all those figues in half and they still wouldnt add up

Im still confused

It can be any unbroken piece of possesion that leads to a goal. i.e. whole team can be involved if they all get a touch.

I think.

Hoopers for seriously dipped after January IMO, still can't argue with those stats though

Hooper broke 30 goals this year. In the SPL era only Larsson(4), Hartson and McDonald have scored that many in a season.

Viduka nor Sutton scored this amount.

He has improved, 29 last year and 22 his first season. He scores in Europe and has 6 or 7 Old Firm goals.

If people think he is lazy and his form has dropped, yet he still produces this, why not keep him and see if we can get him interested next year.
