Tony Barrett is saying that there IS a clause in Suarez's contract that means Liverpool must consider offers of 40m for Suarez, but, bizarrely, we're not compelled to ACCEPT an offer.
Seems like a strange and pointless clause, but if that's true, we're in a great position. Tell Madrid that the price is 50m and that we don't want to hear from them until they match it in cash by a specific deadline, and tell Suarez he'll be a Liverpool player next season unless Madrid match it, in which case he would be free to go.
Unless we manage to screw ourselves over again in true Liverpool transfer fashion, we'll either have a forward line featuring Suarez or else pots and pots of cash.

Given that info. I think Brendan should grow a goatee beard. Then when an offer of £40m comes in he can stroke his goatee, pause and ponder for dramatic effect, then say no.

In fairness given Suarez behaviour when seemingly happy, now that he is unhappy per se, would that not worry Liverpool fans going into next season with him in a foul mood, he has enough of a screw loose already.
Think of what your club could do with fourty million? That could be two solid players that help your push for the top 6.
