Would rather cast judgement after his 2nd season with us but can't understand why a team pushing to win trophies would get rid of a player with the sort of stats he has after one season.

You don't get to be Germanys youngest player to reach 100 caps for nothing. He is a great player who has shown glimpses of what he can do in his first season in a new league and allegedly carrying an injury. He also scored nearly as many as Giroud who played a lot more and as central striker whereas Pod was played wide.
Pod also does a lot defensively and is not afraid to get back.
I don't think hes been as good as his history would make me expect but if hes been carrying an injury which should be fixed by surgery in the summer beware of writing him off too quickly.

I'm with you on that one gooner. Been a good buy and will only get better next season. Just surprisd he is getting so much stick when his credentials speak for themselves

If a Chelsea, City or United player got 16 goals, 10 assists playing from the left wing they would be called not only world class but the next coming of Christ.
If a Chelsea, City or United player got 12 goals, 8 assists playing from the left wing they would be called the 'bestest in the league'.
Neither would be correct but that's how the propaganda machine rolls.
But it also highlights that you probably underrate him.

Also it would take a man with a heart of stone to break up this friendship
