The point is most of those players wouldnt even get in the squad now yet we always at least managed to challenge for a play off spot. Now we cant even win a match.

Yes they would.
Rab Douglas was at Celtic, Maurice Ross at Rangers, Pressley and Webster were doing a good job at Hearts. We'd kill for a semi-reliable CB pairing at the moment.
Lambert, Miller, Cameron would all be in the squad.
