I don't get the Gazidis hate, in all honesty. Damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. What else is he going to say? "Do you have the money to spend £25m on a player and £200k p/w on wages?"

The myth about clubs ripping others off when they know they have cash is just that, a myth, in any case. A strong negotiating team (which we definitely do have) will just walk away if the demands get excessive.

I agree he is somewhat damned if he does and damned if he doesn't but he's said stuff like this several times before and we've ended up selling our best players while not reinforcing properly.

What he needs to do is only say the usual "we're ready to spend big" stuff if we are actually going to do so.

The proof will come when the transfer window closes but as for what Gazidas said today, I've heard it all before and been left disappointed every time.

I dont rate Gazidis for one reason. David Dein used to be superb at getting his man when doing transfer negitiations. Immediately after Dein left Gazidiz took over this role and time and time again we heard that Arsnal had tried to sign payers but the transfer fell through.

Mata is a prime example. He said he was negotiating with Arsenal before Chelsea but they showed more desire to complete the transfer whereas Arsenal didnt so he chose them. If we're going to sign the top players with the funds now available we need someone who can convince players to join us and Gazidis appears to not be that person.

Gazidis has messed up on a lot of transfers.. but everything he said over the last few years is coming to fruition now, he deserves a lot of credit. everyone called him deluded when he said it at the time.
