These Bale / Ronaldo stories are winding me up now!!!
I think the figures quoted are getting ridiculous now, there is no way on earth Manu would pay £85m for a 28 year old with no resale value in 5 years! And as for Bale... He is a class player, but in the echelons of Messi, Zindan, The fat and thin Ronnies, Iniesta, Xavi... That is a definite no for me!
On current form he is £50m at best, there's no way we'd pay £35m over the odds for anyone. And spurs have had more than enough money off us over the years... I really don't know how they do it, buy for peanuts and make 10s of millions on every player they sell!!!
Looking at the current squad, Rooney aside (hoping he stays) there's no point spending all this money on Ronnie or Bale if we can't feed them service, this was a major problem last year, we need more bite in the middle but coupled with flare and creativity! My shouts would be any one of Wilshire, Thiago, Fabregas, Sweinstiger (spelling)... But that's all pie in the sky.
With the absence of Fergie and mass changes on the way for the team... And every other team strengthening too, I am a little worried going into this season!
Jump on the band wagon...

Kagooney, why not wait until the bad scenario is proved to be more than idle newspaper speculation and pessimistic projections before indulging in depression?

those who bang on about the midfield need to look at the far bigger picture, because its not the drizzling shíts many make it out to be.
Our wingers were a huge problem last season, moreso than the midfield personell.
part of a midfielders job is to get possession and give it to the wingers, who should be looking to make things happen.
last season our wingers lost possession far too easily and put our midfield back under pressure.
add the fact that in most games we had 2 cm against 3, then we were always going to get overun.
is this the best midfield we have had? no
is the midfield the only problem area at the club? certainly not.

I'm just that way inclined, paper gossip about us signing ronaldo and bale makes me laugh and conversly paper gossip about baines and garay seems so real and thus sends me into a gloom of biblical proportions.

Your right Dunc, wings are a priority, we need at least one left winger and 1 midfielder. If the reports are true nani and Anderson are being sold, fletcher is an unknown, scholes gone, giggs in twilight... It's a major problem!!!

We need two midfielders and a left attacker.
Box to box. Creative. Goalscoring 'winger'.
Step forward Kevin Strootman, Thiago Alcantara and give the world for Cristiano Ronaldo. Job done. Problem solved.

Is Draxler a winger or more of an advanced midfielder in the Jovetic/Schneider/Kagawa mould?
There arent to many world class wingers available at the moment, the two best are probably both at bayern right now. I’m not really sold on Zaha yet, seems quite inconsistent and very often plays with his head down. Whilst it may be good for him to go back on loan and get first team football I nthe premier league I think it is also important to see how he does playing with better players at united first

I hope he goes to Madrid. Isco is Balon D'or shittt.
Our scouts apparently think "he's too slow".
Hopefully our draconian views of only purchasing average footballers with pace comes to an end. I am sure Moyes will appreciate a players talent and technique and focus on playing a more progressive style of play.

Agreed, having said that I dont even think Ashley young is that rapid and valencia seems to be slower than he was. The ball will always move quicker than the man
