Strange thought process at work. It's not at all unusual to have former teammates speak highly about another and, if asked, say they'd be happy to have them on their team.

Yet, the OP seems to infer that club instructed him to do so, when the question's put to him in an interview and he only says the obvious in response.

If Real Madrid really did want Modric to lend a hand in tapping Bale up, why on earth would they be so obvious as to use the media instead of ask him if he could get in touch with him personally?

real are immune to tapping up. it is an english fa rule, not a spanish fa rule or a uefa rule, so that pretty much discredits your whole argument

I think it's a UEFA thing, but it's hardly as if it doesn't happen all the time anyway. I just find the idea of using the media to do so a pretty absurd thought when there are so many much less overt ways of sounding out a player.
