So here we are, after the deafening silence that echoed around the Town half of Old Trafford at around 83 mins into the play off final. A new season, same league, slightly different team. I think every one knows that Automatic promotion is the ONLY acceptable outcome this season. Last season, I always thought automatic promotion would be difficult given the quality of teams around us. This season I feel is different, I believe we are the best team on paper. We are clear favourites. We have to get off to a good start. If we do this then I think we will achieve promotion.
Therefore today's game is a big one. We have to get off to a winner in front of a home crowd. Banish the disappointment of last season.

A new season dawns

A good win would certainly help to banish the ghosts of last season.
I'm looking forward to us being more ruthless this time, playing more controlled possession football, along the floor with skill and grace as befits a club of our proud history.
It's a 46 game slog so we could do without tin pot cup progress although I want us to win every game.
Lets hope we hit the ground running and send out a message to all other league one clubs, we mean business this year.
One dark horse for the season...hartlepool utd...looking at who've they've recruited...but hey, lets not worry about the opposition this time, lets just do it our way.

I'm with jacko, I personally feel we have the quality to dominate games and thats how we should play. Keep possesion, don't give the opposition the chance to make anything of the game, go for the jugular every single time, no sitting back when we are 1 or 2 ahead, just keep working it forward and banging in as many as possible!
I can't wait until 3pm!

Got to agree with you there Andy mate, auto is a must this time.In fact champions to complete all 4 divisional titles would be just the ticket.

Having seen Liam Cooper twice in the pre-season friendlies, I am confident in predicting he will be our player of the season...
Calm on the ball and capable of playing accurate effective long balls and has a good short passing game too..
All that, and he is more than anything else, a blooming good defender with a great head, in more than one way.....
