Pat Nevin: "I spoke to Ron Gourlay & he told me they'll not be spending like they did in Mourinho's early days but Jose is buying into that"

Which basically means we have a budget. If Jose wants to spend more, he must generate funds from sales.
What we don't know is the initial budget.

I reckon the initial budget was around £50 million, we have already spent about £20 million of that on Schurrle. I think that's why we are being linked with players like Van Ginkle.

So there's a budget....meaning there might not be enough funds to buy Cavani?

That would be about 70 million on Schurrle and Cavani and we still need at least one more central midfielder and some backup keepers so that would bring our spend to about 100 mill.
Is that considered a small spend these days ?
