St Ross Brawn.

Why is it that this man is made of teflon ?
Schumacher is called allsorts on here and other forums for his 'cheating' ways. Yet St Ross is held up as 'Thee Man'.

He's portrayed as a great strategist, a man with no equal when it comes to outwitting his opposite number.

Could I just ask one thing ?
What has all Schumachers antics and the present situation at Mercedes got in common?

Schumacher is despised by people who do not appreciate what a superb talent he was. On here he gets fair treatment.

Brawn comes across as a decent bloke so I can see why people are fond of him.

Horner on the other hand is a

Schumacher was a cheat IMO and therefore Brawn was a cheat.

He oversaw everyone of Schumacher's ' cheats' and yet he is put up on a pedestal ??????

Just to add my two penneth to the 'tyregate' topic, I personally think all parties involved are to blame.

But before I go down that route, everyone, including Ross Brawn (RB), is aware that in season testing is banned. And if you did want to carry out some highly secret testing aimed at gaining an advantage, you wouldn't do it pretty much straight after a GP. There's no chance in hell that the other teams didn't notice that Merc weren't packing up their stuff and 2 F1 cars blasting round an otherwise empty track is probably the most conspicuous thing there is. It's impossible that the test wouldn't have been noticed and Merc / RB will have known this.

Now, in F1 almost everybody pushes the boundaries as far as possible. This is most likely possible because the rule book is so complicated that I suspect many rules are ambiguous or even contradictory. I suspect most teams are culpable of breaking or bending rules and on this occasion RB worked out something with Pirelli where the rules were being bent as far as possible. Whether this is right or wrong is based upon your ethical / sportsmanship stance i suppose.

Now on to Pirelli who I do feel for a little. They are told to make tyres a certain way but then are lambasted by both the teams and the FIA for the product they are supplying. I think the FIA need to actually sort out what they actually want from F1 racing rather than them making the main focus of evening things out via the tyres. Personally I get sick and tired of hearing the word 'tyres' in almost every sentence of commentary (but that's another topic of discussion). If Pirelli stuck their middle finger up at F1 for next season, I would completely understand.

I'm of the opinion that if the FIA hadn't made the racing entirely about the tyres, we wouldn't be having this discussion. However, it's given us something to talk over in between GPs if nothing else.

No I'm not. The main reason being that the man was so good he didin't need all those advantages. He may not have won so many WDC's but he would have earned more respect . IMHO.
