Ravi Bopara

Welcome back to international cricket

Cracking tournament for Ravi. Gutted he couldn't get us over the line, but he has really established himself as a key man in the ODI team now. Very useful bowler and a genuine batsmen.

We should have won it, but overall it's been a good tournament and there is plenty to take from it. India are an excellent team, and full credit to them. Champions trophy deserves to remain in the international calender

Ravi Bopara may be good. But is he good enough? What was the need to hit Sharma bouncer right after losing Morgan. He lacked the maturity to read the match situation and block a ball or two. Two new batsmen in the middle is not idle during closing stages of the game while chasing. On that note he should have defended. But he didn't. I guess this what separates men from boys. He didn't have what it takes to see English through the finish line.

Same is the case with Morgan. He has hit Sharma for a six. Sharma was kind enough to bowl two wides. Then Morgan decides to slog Sharma. Again he failed to read the game. He and Bopara were hitting spinners out of the park as well. There was no reason for him to go for that slog. But he did and perished in the process.

Though Bell got a harsh call, He has hit Jadeja for a four. There was no need for him to make room and hit Jadeja over the top. As he was trying to hit over the top, the momentum took him forward and gave the opportunity for Dhoni to stump. Mind you the asking rate was not high when Bell got out. These three were the catalysts which contributed to England loss in the finals.

I am an Indian staying in India.. I agree that it was really disgusting to see Indian fans booing Bopara just because his parents were born in India... I have a greatest respect for Bopara coz he is an Englishman and doing his job with utmost sincerity for his country... I am also surpised to see British Indians supporting India, not patriotic at all. Well, one might debate saying that one is free to support anyone he or she likes but it is also true that nation comes first. Learn something from the army, for them nation is first. It is a shame for British Indians who did not support England, atleast would have shown some courtesy by cheering England players when they were receiving medals...
