Rachael Yankey

Rachael Yankey cannot beat Peter Shiltons England cap record. Doesn't matter how you look at it, it is ridiculous to compare these two athletes records as England internationals.

What a joke.

To be fair the women's team put a heck of a lot more of a shift then the men's team does.

Why do we even let them play!?

I mean Rooney and the rest of the "old guard" clearly doesn't want to be there so why play him, it isn't hard to see who is interested in playing for their country or not?!

"It is somewhat similar in ability terms to getting 126 caps for the faroe islands....... though I wouldn't be surprised if that player would be more talented...."

Well not really though is it. It's somewhat similar in ability terms to getting 126 caps for England although for female team. She's a woman playing against women so is, by far, the most successful England international in her field.

It's a big deal about nothing, I'm sure Shilton isn't crying at his record going nor is anyone taking much notice of this story.

SBD is right, the women's team probably play with a lot more heart than the bloke's. Shame as I think the bloke's attitude has filtered down to the U-21. It's not a coincidence that the U-21's are all on big money now.

Appreciate your in depth response taking out one line of mine but it really isn't.

I doubt she could even play decent quality Sunday League football against blokes but she doesn't have to. She's playing women, it's women's football and she's the most successful. Good for her.

My point is it's Women's Football, that should be, and is, classified differently. Nothing to do with Shilts' amazing achievement and I'm not sure why suddenly her name appears above his - it was never in top 5, top 10 lists before she reached that figure.
