MOIST Midfielders (5 of the best) linked...

I've took the time to crystalize (breakdown) the pro's & cons of 5 midfielders linked to the Arsenal. This is a MOIST synopsis, feel free to pull me up, question me, even challenge me, but if you dare, you better come armed and ready!

Who's hot to trot? And who deserves a stiff one up the bott? Who's realistic and who takes the biscuit? Come at me, I'm oiled and ready!

What ya thinkin' chaps?

Fellaini:

Pros = Tried & tested at Prem level (huge plus), massive physical presence, effective in both penalty areas, has goals in his locker, not afraid to 'mix it up'.

Cons = Can be accused (at times) of lacking discipline, will most likely cost £22/24 million (his release fee), can his game suit a quick, fast offensive style (that Arsenal traditionally play)?

Gonalons:

Pros = Decent 'allround' midfielder, disciplined player, quick & accurate distributor of a football, captain at Lyon who leads by example.

Cons = Untested at Prem level, will very likely cost more than he's (realistically) worth (at least £15 million)

Capoue:

Pros = Very strong player, athletic, positionally sound, anchors a midfield with real commitment & discipline.

Cons = His price tag has put off a lot of clubs (even Monaco) & it's regarded that £12/14 million is 'too much', no Prem experience, ultra defensive midfielder who's not a natural 'passer'.

Kevin Strootman:

Pros = Great engine (box-to-box midfielder), VERY commited, strong aggresive tackler (sometimes too aggresive), looks very much a 'Premier League player (in terms of style).

Cons = Very much on Man Utd's radar (for some time), has a bit of the Roy Keane's about him (often treads a fine line discipline-wise)

Kondogbia:

Pros = Strong as an Ox, covers a lot of ground, not afraid to do the 'dirty work', already showing huge promise at such a young age (20)

Cons = Much coveted & likely to spark a bidding war (Chelsea, City, Utd & teams in Spain & Italy also linked), despite playing for Sevilla there's a question mark (rightly or wrongly) over him moving to a 'top club' with the weight of expectation on his young muscular shoulders.

decent article, thoughtful views on players mentioned.

My view on Arsenal is that they have become a very cultured club under Wenger.

They're style of play is cultured added by the massive French influnce at Arsenal.

I was not surprised to hear Gonzalo Higuaín was linked to the club "why" he was born in France

untill the day Wenger decides to mix things up a bit in terms of adding British blood and adding some British up and at them aggression instead of the constant tippy tappy football, i see Arsenal continue to entertain but fail to win any major trophy.

Slightly disagree with the sports clothing giant here. We actually do have quite a few British lads in our squad currently but that for me is no guarantee of anything. Good players win trophies, not a specific nationality. Plus if you've watched us recently the tippy tappy, entertaining football has been sacrificed for a more cautious approach.

We've had a serious quality purge over the last number of years......simply need to start keeping our best players, bring in quality and then hopefully things will start motoring from there.

of those mentioned I would go with Fellani

but ask again at the end of the window and I will grab any of them like I was in the glass container in the Crystal maze and they were gold and silver foil bits...

The Crystal Maze was awesome.

Will you start the fans please!

Sign Higuaín, then swap with Juve for Tevez and Pogba.

Chris

Only with the bald fella, the other one tried too hard to be weird, and came across as weird....

Adidas, your opinions are several years out of date.

Mr. Moist, of your list I would prefer Strootman, but I don't think he is on Arsenal's radar and with United interested there's not much chance of it happening. Of the realistic options, I quite like Gonalons, and not just because he sounds like some kind of sexually transmitted disease. I'm really not sold on Fellaini for that kind of money.

The sad thing guy's, is that there is more chance of Wenger signing a young talented foreigner then that of an englishmen.

i'm becoming ever more convinced of bringing back the 3 foreigner rule as the wider uk is doomed.

Jack

Richard O'Brien was a great host. (and I think is half a woman now or something according to an article I saw on BBC a while ago)

The bloke that replaced him was Ed Tudor Pole and I disliked him immediately.

Well if the foreigner is young and talented and the Englishman is just an Englishman then you're probably right. Besides, considering the ratio of "foreigners" to Englishmen in the world, our first team and recent youth signings have a decent ratio of good old Engerlish players actually.
