Swansea's chairman has confirmed that his club have had contact with us over Shelvey. It seems that we're willing to listen to offers, so would you be keen to sell at the right price?
I quite like Shelvey, he's shown glimpses of what he can bring although he did fade quite quickly last season and you wonder wether Rodgers sees any sort of future for him here, despite the fact he's still young. Especially with the possible arrival of Mkhitaryan, he'd certainly have his playing time limited this year. He would do a job for a Premier League club so perhaps a move would be best but would a permanent move be best?
Palace are reportedly interested in a loan deal and he's played well under Holloway before. Or would it be best for home to find a complete fresh start and bump up the coffers towards Rodgers kitty? Swansea in that case may be a good move.
Thoughts?
Jonjo Shelvey's Future

I thgink Jonjo has played Cm for us and found wanting there too (for lack of a better phrase)

A 20 year old lad isn't going to excel in every game in midfield. Some have been poor and some have been decent.

Red Kenya. What utter tosh!! I'll bet you've hardly/if ever seen Alberto play. I'll bet none of us have. Don't see Barca B games on Sky much do we?

Term
Its Red Mamba.... <grrr> I removed the Kenya thing because of 'stigma'.
I have seen alot of Shelvey and IMO he will not be good enough for us and if he will we can't wait that long. Look at Coutinho he's already producing the goods but he's younger than Jonjo and in a different realm in as far as talent goes. Thats the kind we need IMO if we are to go with the young players system not a player who will take years to start doing what Coutinho is doing now!!!!!
I've seen a little of Alberto but since we got linked to him I have viewed as much as I can of him and I think he's a far far much safer bet than Jonjo. As I said in my earlier post this is IMO.

Most young players that eventually make it show flashes of brilliance when they come into the first team but they don't sustain performances. That's to be expected, my problem with Shelvey is that he shows flashes of really good play, not brilliance.
I've said this before but he reminds me a bit of Danny Murphy when he first broke into the first team, clearly ability there but wasn't sure whether he quite had what it took. Now Danny ended up having a decent career but I suspect had he remained at Liverpool he would have been largely a back up player. I would guess the same to be true of Shelvey.

Why also would you want a first refusal if you clearly don't rate the lad?
=====================
He might turn out great but we don't have the time. I think we should invest time in players with a greater chance of making it big than young Jonjo like coutinho, Suso and Alberto. The likelihood of success IMO is far greater. I just don't see Jonjo ever being good enough for us from what i've seen so I think someone else should have a go in his place.

Sterling work
Great post lad. Exactly what I am trying to say. I do like Jonjo. How could I not? He plays for LFC. But I just don't see him making it. Furthermore our style of play seems suited to a player with more patience, flair, guile and technique than he has ever shown. He is rash to tackle, shoots too much rarely ever hitting the target etc.

Shelvey is ga$h and has never looked close to being like the player some of our more optimistic fans have claimed. He should be at a team like west brom or something like that, and we should just accept that he isnt that good.

Shame if we do lose him for good. A season at Swansea would make him a great player I'm sure. Ideally we should only loan him with an option o a permanent, then be can decide for himself if he wants to come back and be successful for Liverpool. Good player jonjo just needs playing time

If he is going to leave I would rather he went on loan. He could play an important role for Palace or some other team.
If he develops then great, we can either keep him or sell him to a team he has played a major role in for more than £5m.

We got £6m for him. Big profit there. Wouldn't be surprised if we put in a clause in there as well.
