What do the Bookies Know anyway?

According to most Bookies QPR are odds on favourites for promotion closely followed by Reading, Bolton, Leicester, Wigan, Watford, Forest, Brighton, Leeds, Ipswich, Blackburn & Bournemouth in that order, all around the 6:1 mark.

The rest appear to be also rans including Town, who are listed at between 16 to 25:1 by most bookies and are expected to finish in 19th position, whilst Barnsley, Doncaster and Yeovil are favourites for the dreaded drop.

Anyhow, don't despair because the bookies have not realised the effect that Mark Robins will have on our fortunes next season, and I truly reckon that Town will be play-off contenders - seriously.

Lets be honest, if the majority of bookies rate newly promoted Bournemouth at around 6:1, what do they know which we don't, although lets be brutally honest, this League is not a level playing field with at least half a dozen clubs benefiting from the grossly unfair parachute payments, worth around £19 million to the lucky recipients.

Anyone else share my sentiments - or am I a "day dreamer"?

In Mark Robins I Trust.

if we all bet on Town to go up, you'll see our odds for being promoted shorten and we'd end up favourites ...so yes, it's money led, not fact based...which just goes to show...

idontlikemondays,

Log onto any internet site which compares "championship favourites 2013/14" betting odds, across the full range of Bookies and you will see that QPR are top of the pile on them all, with shorter odds than ANY OTHER of the 23 Champonship teams.

If you are still adamant that QPR are not the bookies promotion favourites, then please let me know which other teams are being quoted shorter odds by the Bookies.

Sorry Mirf but you can't be 'odds on favourite' unless your odds are actually 'odds on'
2/1 and higher isn't odds on
1/2 and lower is odds on

So, if they are 6/1...does that mean one person in 7 thinks they will get promoted ?

Not being a betting man myself, it was a slip of the tongue to label QPR "odds on favourites". All I was trying to convey was that all the main bookies have them as "out and out" favourites to win the Championship.

Anyhow, now that the have also brought McClaren on board to assist Harry, I'm not sure whether they have the title sewn up already - or is there something more sinister about this appointment?
