David Moyes appoints Ryan Giggs as player-coach of Manchester United.
Giggs, 39, signed a one-year extension to his playing contract in March and will combine his new duties with being a member of the first-team squad.
Moyes said: "I'm delighted that Ryan has accepted the chance to become player-coach. His success and ability to adapt his game over a number of years gives him an unrivalled perspective on the modern game.
"His career is an example to any aspiring young player and I'm sure that both he and the players will benefit from his new role."

And they say Manchester United are a club with no class.
These appointments speak volumes about how much class we have.
One love. One club. Twenty times. #Mufc

You can't get many better role models (in a football sense!)...
These young lads must look at what giggs has acheived, and the level he has played at and want to emulate his career.
It's a great move by the club, and the likes of Butt, Scholes and Fizzer will all bring plenty to the table too.

If we get Thiago.....I can't see why not.

It was pretty clear Giggs would play a big role when he was so involved in the transition from Ferguson to Moyes (reference: those photos of all three going to a secret meeting at a motel).

We need to get Gary Nev on the bandwagon.
Moyes seems to be doing all the right things to me, exciting time.

Agreed, I imagine most people, even those originally against his appointment, must be coming around to the idea now?

I was t for it when I found out Jay, but he has acted swiftly and professionally so far. We'll see how he handles the Rooney situation but it's a big thumbs up from me so far.

I'm in two minds about these appointments, to be honest. On the one hand, there is no one better to ensure that your new players and youth understand the ethos and culture of United and have players that have been there and done it to look up to.
At the same time though, for these people, their first role as coaches will be at one of the biggest clubs in the world. Part of me thinks there should be at least a small part of plying your trade somewhere before, rather than entering at the pinnacle.
