The Lions give the Aussies a spanking in their own back yard, Andy Murray wins Wimbledon and Abu Qatada gets to visit his homeland for the first time in many years. A great weekend for Britain!

What`s great about that. The Lions beat the 3rd best team in the world out of about only four half-decent teams, Murray won a sport that everybody will now forget about for another 52 weeks, and Abu Qatada is another government propaganda individual to make out the government is doing something about the enemy within, when in fact you have more chance of winning the lottery, than coming face to face with him in a terrorist situation.
I hate weekends like this when the hype takes over the reality.

Britain has won the Wimbeldon title 36 times now, more than any other country, so don`t see what all the big deal is about. Like the Olympic hype last year, it will all fade away when the footie season kicks off. A proper sport for the masses.

I watched most of the lions game (not normally a rugby fan) and was impressed! Also suprised by the lack of articles about the lions captain Sam warburton (Gareth bales's old classmate) not throwing on his rugby gear, getting people to charge into him, rolling around in the mud etc before going up to collect the trophy a la John terry
Wanted djokovic to win though

Football could learn so much from these other sports.
After every big event like this - Lions, Olympics, Paralympics, Wimbledon etc I am always embarrassed to watch footballers and the way they behave.

Sandy......I don't suppose Andy Murray is such a big thing for you when you can remember the last time a Briton won it just like it was yesterday

I think Murray's win was brilliant. Playing tennis in 40c & performing like he did was awesome. His athleticism puts a lot of footballers to shame!
He also showed a never give up attitude that it would be nice to see adopted by a lot of footballers too.
I cannot understand the hatred some obviously have for Murray, mainly based on comments he made when he was 18 years of age.

I like Murray because everyone jumped on the "anti" bandwagon so quickly He doesn't give a flying t0ss what anyone thinks about him which is hilarious

The reason why I didn't want murray to win is because Britain go so overboard whenever they succeed in anything. Heard there are calls for him to be knighted because he won Wimbledon, his 2nd grand slam. If that's the barometer then surely all the Spain players in the 2008, 2010 and 2012 trophy-winning squads deserve freedom of the country, minimal tax, statues of each of them in their hometown, bumped up in the queue to become the new king of Spain.....
