Local games kicked off this weekend and the best attendance will harly push 5000? I remember Irish league games getting 10,000 and 20,000 pretty easily back in the day?
Even the Cup Final last year couldn't muster a decent crowd!!!!
Looking at the GAA they get those numbers for club championship games never mind County games. Why do they get better numbers ? The Ulster final has had 80,000 in Croke Park, something local Football can only dream of?
I've played and watched both sports and admit GAA has more excitement but is that it?
Has local football pushed the casual fan away? It would seem it has.
Is it because local football is not family friendly while GAA is? This also seems true.
I also think that its not that a competitive league and Linfield seem to have the odds stacked in their favour?
While all 9 Counties of Ulster have seen some success in recent years.
Has GAA become the leading team sport in Ulster?
The numbers would suggest it has.
Vast difference in attendances?

As someone who has lived in the Republic all my life and has never set foot in any of the 9 counties of Ulster this is something which has always interested me.

And i in turn will visit your corner of the Island when you can claim to have a "civilised" society where people aren't singled out for abuse or victimisation because they happen to have certain religious or political beliefs lol......

I refuse to visit any place where i would not be "welcome".
Why should I??? I prefer to spend my money on Sun holidays and the odd weekend break with my wife. Paris, Rome, Prague, Budapest etc... Or a spa break in Dublin, Galway, Cork or Kerry Great deals out there if you're willing to shop around.
