The best ODI player of all time..

and award goes to MAHINDRA SINGH DHONI......I don't even have slightest of a doubt. He has been such a phenomenal character..he won the match yet again for India..and yes another trophy for Team India. Take a bow man...well done..

great batsman. the best in limited overs without a doubt.

would love to see dhoni emulate this success in tests. He is already a standout player in the world, and if he improves as a test batsman(which he already is) then he will be the greatest cricketer the world has seen.

My rating of Dhoni in test cricket:
Captaincy: B+
Keeping: B+
Batting: C

Turn this into ODI cricket, my view changes:
Captaincy: A++
Keeping: A-
Batting: A++++

"...then he will be the greatest cricketer the world has seen."

No, that title is safe with Sobers and if ever there is one who will steal this from Sobers, it won't be Dhoni.

Excellent knock yesterday and once again, carried India to a win.

Great skipper, but agree with Viru, needs to transfer this to the Test arena

I won't say he is the best one day player of all time but without of shadow of doubt the best finisher. Even better than Bevan.

Tendulkar is the best ODI player of all time.

Dhoni has been very lucky. As Kash says, he is a great finisher but he credit has to go to other players such as Rohit Sharma for holding up the innings when the ball was doing things. Similarly, Tendulkar has always opened when it is the hardest to bat.

Tendulkar can you explain what luck is? do people just use these words for fun. How do you define a player to be unlucky?

I am big fan of 10dulkar but when it comes to finishing and winning games no one catch MSD's record for sure. All day Dhoni has done brilliant than SRT in this case.

I am a fan of Tendulkar. His ODI records speak for his talent.

We must, however, keep in mind that openers have the best opportunity to score the most runs in ODIs.

I am not aware of any player ever producing match-winnings knocks as many times as Dhoni.

Great as a player he was (ODIs), Tendulkar was not exceptionally strong under pressure. Dhoni is extraordinarily strong in high pressure situations.

Of course Dhoni is very lucky. He is the India captain. About 300million people want that title!
