Sounds like the deal with Besitkas for Ade is all but done.. surely we have to sign 2 NEW STRIKERS or rely on Dempsey and one other..
What say you?

He most definitely is good enough. Not to start, no, but as a back up goal scorer he is a very strong option to have. However I do agree that sentiment has made Spurs fans seem to think that THudd is better than he is.

The bottom line is when push comes to shove, he is not quite good enough

He's pretty much said that in the interview! As long as we improve the first team he's happy.. a lot more than can be said for Ade.

I like Defoe, but in a 433 not sure it suits him or us BUT if he is playing then what he is good at is getting down the channels & pulling central defenders wide but when that happens we need support in the box from CM, FB over lapping to provide another option wide, opposite wide player also tucking into the box, so that there are options.
With 2 DMs, we should be able to get 4 or 5 players in support of the striker without exposing ourselves defensively....last season I do not remember ever seeing Dembele or Hudd or Parker actually filling space left by the striker in the box or Lennon tucking in at the back post and the FBs were also quite withdrawn.
Maybe, much like when Mancini went to City, their first season they were very circumspect but became more expansive.
I expect to see us improve in an attacking sense this season but we do need more strikers.

Delighted with this. I don't hate Adebayor but can't stand the guys attitude and him out the club means 1 bad apple gone. Defoe has a brilliant attitude and a passion for spurs plus he's a very good striker aswell. I'm not saying Defoe should be 1st choice and he does have his periods where he doesn't score but you won't get a better back up striker in Europe let alone the prem. this to me is positive because it means Ade is on the move and we almost certainly will get 1 big name striker in plus maybe another cheaper one.

Nothing to do with the arrivals of Aguero, Nasri etc then ??

New strikers are an absolute must now.
There's no escaping it.
A proven goalscorer like CB, AN etc and a nice young forward to usher in a new beginning.
Man Utd seemed to do very well with WR, DB, and JH...
we do need some decent back up in those key areas though...busy six weeks for Levy and Baldy eh?

Defoe's goal vs City at WHL last season.....brilliant.
Always worth having JD on the bench, even if he'd prefer to be starting. If he is happy to play that role then i cannot see us getting a better option for the £7m we might get for him if he were sold.

Exactly Devonshire, Adebayor goal against Chelsea was pure class but it's very rare he does this. Defoe scores belters quite often and has the ability to score a goal out of nothing which is something we will need next season coming off the bench or filling in when injuries occur.
