Burton Albion have completed the signing of Rene Howe on a two year deal.
The highly-rated striker arrives at the Pirelli Stadium after leaving Torquay in the summer having scored 30 goals in 89 appearances during two seasons at Plainmoor.
The 26-year-old was the Gulls’ leading scorer during the 2012/13 campaign, hitting the back of the net on 16 occasions; including a spell of six goals in six consecutive matches.’
While I'm delighted to sign Howe it probably signals the end of our plans to sign Matt Paterson.
Burton sign Howe

Yep a good signing and a direct replacement for Calvin, although I would still rather have Calv.
I still think there's room for Pato, only Billy and Rene are better imho, so I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed that the youngster is re-signed.
Just had a look at a Torquay forum, they are surprised that he has joined little old Burton and it can only be for 'money' reasons as he had interest from lots of L1 and Scottish clubs. He is injury prone and has disciplinary record is terrible.
A new start for the lad at Burton and lets hope he bangs those goals in for us, well done GR.

A good signing...very good strike rate and well experienced in League 2. I expect him to do well for the Brewers.

Imagine this scenario folks. Delap hurling the ball in to the box from anywhere beyond the halfway line on to the head of The Tank. It's got to be worth a stack of goals throughout the season.
If another club does it, it is the ugliest football in the world and cannot be condoned. When you are the club doing it then it is perfectly acceptable.

Got to say that I am surprised with GR signing Howe. He's a generally unfit and ill disciplined player who, although he managed a good total of goals last season was not generally liked by the Torquay fans. They seem to think he's only come to Burton for the money, so BR must have dug deep!
So we've now got two strikers that are 15/20 goals strikers, we still need at least another one because I am gobsmacked with Symes signings, just think he will bring very little to the table. that only leaves Knowles.
I'm with BurtonBoy on Pato, he was brilliant for us last season and I was told on Saturday that he was only told two days before pre-season that the club was renaging on his contract - poor by the club if true. Maybe it is down to the money we are having to pay Howe? and of course it won't be cheap to sign Delap.
Slightly happier with the squad now, but still think we are lacking up front and at the back.

Wow. Aren't you a ray of sunshine.
First you criticize Rowett for signing the "ill disciplined and unfit" Howe and then say that he's a 15/20 goal a season striker, something you've been yearning for since Zola went. For the record, Howe has played more games and scored more goals than Zola for each of the past two seasons.
Secondly you continue to have a go at Michael Symes despite the fact that he's now a Burton Albion player and is clearly in Gary Rowett's plans.
Can you try actually supporting the club instead of continually knocking it?

And so it begins, the trolls are out lol!
I haven't criticised anyone, especially Rowett. The Torquay fans have said Howe is ill disciplined and unfit! He scored 16 goals last season, if he replciates that I will be the happiest Brewer on the planet!
Zola was a phenominal player for this club, no one in comparison has every played for this club. Whether or not Howe is fit to fill his boots remains to be seen.
Symes was rubbish last season, sorry if you don't agree. I saw nothing in his game that said we should sign him, sorry if you don't agree, but I would rather Knowles played than Symes and I've yet to see him play!
Try supporting the club, are you having a laugh? I missed three games ALL season last season and have only missed a few games over the last ten seasons, if that is not supporting the club then what is?
I will continue to support my team the way I want to. This is a forum for supporters to say what they feel, warts and all, not just to put on a pair or rose tinted glasses and agree with everything.
Now go away, and try supporting your team.
