9 Thiago alternatives!

Thiago Alcantara has sealed his move to Bayern Munich, leaving us looking on jealously. The gits!

Anways.....

Marouane Fellaini

Everton midfield Marouane Fellaini is available for £24 million, and would give us a presence we currently lack. Moyes knows all about working with him and how to get the best out of him..... I hope!

Christian Eriksen

Danish prospect Christian Eriksen is keen to leave Ajax for a new challenge, and United could step in. He plays in a further forward position than Thiago, but could give the us an additional spark to light up our summer.

Antonio Candreva

Lazio playmaker Candreva has been tipped as a target for United by numerous reports, and the 26-year-old Italian would not cost over the odds. He scored seven goals and provided eight assists last season.

Geoffrey Kondogbia

Kondogbia is a much coveted holding midfielder who can provide us a different option, and is up for sale from Sevilla for around £10 million. Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid have all recently been linked.

Luka Modric

SAF is a long-term admirer of Luka Modric, and Asier Illarramendi's arrival at the Bernabeu further clouds the club's midfield options. They can test Carlo Ancelotti's resolve to keep him with a big bid.

Sven Bender

Sven Bender is one of Borussia Dortmund's most highly regarded players but niggling injuries restricted the midfielder to 15 Bundesliga starts last season. Dortmund got on fine without him when unavailable and could be tempted to cash in.

Marco Verratti

PSG's Marco Verratti was linked with us earlier this year, and was Italy's star man at the under-21 championships. The 20-year-old has even been dubbed the new 'Andrea Pirlo' and is expected to be in his country's World Cup squad next year.

Nemanja Matic

We have been linked with Benfica midfielder Matic previously, and the midfielder dubbed 'the Spider' due to his rangy legs and midfield presence is available, but at a price - €30 million, too much in my opinion. Moyes may consider the price to be over the odds, but the player is keen to play in the Premier League after failing to get a crack first time out with Chelsea.

Paul Scholes

Ah yes. David Moyes' desperation option. If all else fails, ask Scholesy to come out of retirement.....again!

Is Candreva actually a playmaker? All I say for Italy was him on the right wing – he actually reminded me a bit of Hargreaves when he would play on the right side of a midfield 3 – but didn’t strike me as a play maker in the Modric/pirlo mould

I posted on another thread how Modrid might be realistic or at least worth a bid – Madrid may be tempted to sell,

There’s also the likes of Gustavo who may want more playing time with the world cup coming in his home country

De Rossi could be an option as well.

I cant see us getting Fabregas – I was more optimistic about Thiago to be honest. It would be like Ronaldo choosing to play for City

Is Candreva actually a playmaker?

---------

He seems to play better dictating the tempo of the games and plays very well through the middle.

A snag to any deal with him could be the somewhat complicated ownership issues, as Lazio and Udinese own 50 per cent of the player and will both have to agree to any bids from Old Trafford.

Thanks for the info. Have you seen much of him (aside from the confederations cup) then?

Im not one who demands a big name signing for the sake of it but we seem to be the only “big” club linked with him which worries me a little. Hasn’t he been loaned out numerous times?

Don't know why but since the days of Gazza, Signori and Aron Winter, i'll have the odd look-out for a game of there's. He's no Scholes of old but in the odd game of seen, he seems ok and steady box to box type.

I'd still like to see two centre mids signed with Anderson being sold. I'd like one of them to be Fellaini. I just think he'd give United the physical presence they lack in midfield at times. I'd like the other one to be Modric as Cesc ain't gonna happen.

Not sure if Modric is integral to to Ancelotti's plans after the signings of Isco and the young midfielder from Sociedad. If he was surplus i think Jose would bid for him so chances are he'd prob go there anyway as he knows Jose believes in him and he may favour a return to London. But a talented midfield schemer in his mould and a player like Fellaini with his attributes are what is required in my opinion.

@JNorthcroft: In Bangkok Moyes didn't sound like missing out on Thiago would be too big a blow. He wants a DM and a Scholes-like all-rounder.

From a Times journalist, it'll be great to buy 2 CMs

But who Arab?

No one knows, although the Scholes type seems to be Fabregas. DM could be Fellaini?
