Various papers & Sky have reported that Chelsea have offered £10 Million and either Luiz or Mata for Rooney.
And for some daft reason, we have rejected it.
Mata + £10 Million for Rooney

Just yesterday Mourinho said this
"With Mata, I need to get to know him better. I like sometimes to play with what I call 'wingers with the wrong foot' – right-footed men on the left and left-footed men on the right. He is the only left-footed player we have when we want to play with a winger on the right side, but the competition is hard.
Also i highly doubt United would reject 10m + Mata, especially when Rooney wants to leave

Maybe the offer was £10m + a choice of x,y,z (not Mata or Luiz). But United, having seen rumours of Barca potentially bidding £30m for Luiz, and knowing Mata is not going to be valued at less than £30-35m, let it be known these were the 2 players offered, so if it flushes out other bidders, they will know roughly the cash price is quite high.

Why is everyone focusing on just Mata.....
If it was Luiz plus 10 I would have turned it down myself, good player but not what we need.

The BBC are saying it was 10m and our choice of either Mata or Luiz. I think that everyone is taking it for granted that we don't want or need Luiz, but Mata is a much more attractive proposition.

Ahh missed that, my bad.

No worries, I think that the first reports were a little unclear. The BBC's initial article said that the offer was rumoured to be 10m plus Mata or Luiz - which made it sound like they weren't sure which player was included.
The article has now been updated to make it clear that United have/had a choice of either of the players. In addition, the BBC's report now also states that the bid was 10m + either of the players as fact, rather than it being a rumour/reported by other media outlets. When the BBC are stating something as fact, I tend to believe them. So it would appear to me that we really have been offered Mata + 10m for Rooney. Its a little exciting.

If they offer a bit more money on top I would take it in that case.
Like the sound of Mata, Kagawa and Nani behind RVP....

To be honest, I'd take a straight swap with Mata, never mind the 10m that was also supposedly offered. However, you just cant accept the first bid.

I hope this is just lazy journalism.. because if we really rejected the chance to get Mata + £10m for Rooney I will be losing my season ticket at the first home game of the season (ironically v chelsea) when I run onto the pitch and pimp slap Moyes.

This has bollox written all over it. And why is everyone assuming that it was Mata who was offered? The "source" clearly has no idea who it was, if there is even any truth to this in the first place.
And if it was Luiz then we were right to reject the offer.
