What is the monetary value of Rooney handing in a transfer request?
Does anyone know what this is worth?
Is it his full wages for the remainder of his contract, i.e. ~£25m?
What is the value

SAF didn't say he had handed in a transfer request - he said he had asked for a transfer.

You can't believe a word you hear in the media, but I strongly suspect that he hasn't handed in an official trqansfer request. Either way I just wanted to know how much it was worth.

£25m for Rooney?
Double it, and that's more like it.

No. If Rooney verbally asks for a move and gets it he is still entitled to his loyalty bonus when he leaves. If Rooney submits a written transfer request it then becomes official, thus he loses the right to his loyalty bonus.

Reading between the lines, it appears that Rooney had a meeting with SAF and said that he wanted to be played in his preferred positioned and also guaranteed more playing time. SAF said that he couldn't guarantee that, so off the cuff Rooney said that you might as well sell me then. He possibly didn't really mean it and it was a reaction. But SAF was tired of his petulance and, with the club better placed to deal with the exit of Rooney than back in 2010, decided to get his own back on Rooney and make the conversation public knowledge.

Maestro I didn't say Rooney was worth £25m, I asked how much the putting in a tranfer was worth inside that deal. I.e. how much we would have to pay Rooney if we sold him without him asking in writing for a transfer

Good Lord NO! An official transfer request means that
a) Roo loses his loyalty payments (related to the number of years left on his contract)
b) United are therefore not forcing him out which in turn would weaken our negotiating position.
If Roo wants to leave he needs to request a transfer in writing. Saying it verbally behind closed doors is pointless.
