RP Singh has been sent for as replacement and looking at his record one wonders why he was not chosen in the first place.

Shame Zaheer is going home would have liked to have seen him play. Singh did pretty well last time they toured if memory serves so not a bad replacement at all.

problems with left armers. They either get it right or they dont and when they dont they are cannon fodder on both sides of the wicket.. be a big mistake putting RP Singh straight into the team with no practice...

That really is india's problem, they just have no good backup bowlers if their first string get injured. india will only be saved from the whitewash if it rains

I think its only a matter of time before India's batsmen get some runs though. I am still sticking to my 2-1 prophecy with India winning at Edgbaston and a draw at the Oval. I think India will get a stack of runs at Edgbaston and just manage to bowl us out.
Or then again England may annhiliate them again....

England have only ever lost 8 out of 45 test matches at Edgbaston...

Not a guarantee we will win, but that added to Zaheer being out and England playing well currently, all signs point to an England win. But who knows its test cricket at the end of the day and India do still have a really talented batting line-up, so it could be a draw...

I heard RP Singh won't arrive in time for Edgebaston. If so, India's bowling does look awfully thin.

It's not impossible for them to take 20 wickets, but only if England contribute to their own downfall with rash batting.

With potential time lost to rain, Strauss' instinctive caution as captain and India's batsmen surely due to justify their reputations at some point during the tour my gut-feel is for a draw this time.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to the 8 out of 45 stat. Edgebaston frequently hosted the 1st test and as such was often 'lively'. I doubt a mid-August wicket will be the same - especially given all the host grounds vested financial interest in teh game going into the 5th day.

lol You really are overrating India mate. 4:0 and they can do nothing about it. Their team is in disarray. They came to England under prepared, lazy, overweight, not very fit and are falling apart like flies. You put all that against a fit, young team that is blowing away all that comes in its way then you can only have one scoreline - WHITEWASH. England are chomping at the bit, primed and ready to go

Considering the first test of a series has historically always been at Lords, that is hardly an accurate statement.
