We did not lose David Villa. We offered more money than Athletico but personally I don't think he wanted to leave Spain as the World Cup is coming up next year.

The Spain manager has always said he prefers the national team players to play in Spain.

David Villa would have been great, but personally always felt that he wanted to remain in Spain. Remember he was a target for the Gunners before us and they could not get the deal done....

Do fans think that Benteke's attitude takes the biscuit?

The stats have Guzan as the best shot stopper in the top flight last season, I'm glad the focus has been on Benteke and not Guzan as well.

First Hart then Guzan, Given never had a chance.

However I have a feeling that the improvement in both players may have been a result of Given's influence. So your young keepers may show significant improvement from this move as well.

Given's a good keeper. But Guzan was really ready for the lead role when Brad senior went. And to think McLeish only played him if Given was out. Whatever the ups and downs of last year and maybe this summer and even the coming year, nothing comes near to the depths of McLeish's reign.

I still shudder and get annoyed at how stupid our owner and his team were in appointing him. What a waste of a season and 20+ mill of transfer money.
