Listen to what Reading boss, Brian Mcdermott, says regarding Shane Long.

He expects a bidding war!!

Thoughts?

Just wrote an article on it, although doesn't seem to be appearing on the board...hmmm..

I really don't think he's good enough for any PL team to make a bid for him, 44 goals in five seasons is rubbish!!

I can't believe that scoring 23 league goals last season can warrant such interest when he did nothing for the previous four. Can't imagine why any PL team would spend so much money on an unproven player when he hasn't even proved himself as a consistent goal scorer in this division yet.

Have managed to get my article up on the subject now. Is reasonably lengthy so didn't want to take over your article by popping it in a comment, but in general, I think McDermott is trying to bluff and not very successfully.

Although he is still young and and there is a lot of his career infront of him cant help but agree with Arro. @ a reported £7m I'd be more than happy if we missed out

Bristol will want rid of Maynard now, he doesn't want to be there and they need the money for defenders, offer them £4m because now the tables have turned and we hold all the cards! At least £3m cheaper than Long for a better player when a week ago we might have needed to pay £6.5m to get him.

It would be one of the great transfer masterplans!
