It seems as if he is rated extremely highly at Man Utd. According to Moyes:
"When I arrived I was told how important Danny had been and how important he will be," Moyes told reporters at a press conference in Sydney. "We're giving him an opportunity now and he has the chance to get games. We're hoping his goals come as well. He had a couple of chances [against Singha All Star XI]. It would be worse if he wasn't getting chances. Hopefully he'll start taking a few of those opportunities and that will give him the confidence he needs to go on a run and score plenty of goals."
I feel he is a player who will be given every chance to play again next season and probably will be one of the first players on the team sheet. Many may disagree with this but this is obviously something Ferguson has insisted Moyes to do.

i like Danny... but i have doubts over whether the composure will ever come. Most great strikers have good finishing ability from the start and its the other aspects of their game (movement, timing etc) that improve over their career. Its one thing saying give him time etc... but if he starts costing points in a title run in, he'll get hammered.
The lad does have great pace, strength, ability to run with the ball ... i just don't see him becoming clinical enough to be an out and out striker... If anything he looks even less dangerous playing up front than he does on the wing.
nothing wrong with the role he has been playing tbh... no he's not an out and out left winger... but he's decent, puts in a great shift... and in certain games, like Madrid away, he's been superb at carrying the ball, easing pressure etc

Have you had a life-changing experience of some kind, or is it me? I keep reading your comments and agreeing with them.
I also believe Welbeck could be a very handy inside forward. Alternatively, he could be the kind of centre forward whose role is as much a facilitator as finisher - playing with his back to goal and playing in others, making lateral runs that drag defenders out of central positions and create pockets of space in the middle for other forwards / midfielders to move into.
I like Welbeck as a player. As he matures I think he could bring some of the same ingredients that Saha brought to our attack: mobility, strength, intelligence. Saha was a better goal scorer than Welbeck right now but I think Welbeck will prove to be a better all-round footballer. He needs to work on finishing certainly but I'm quietly optimistic he can justifying staying at United for most of his career.

Maybe Sir Alex knew what he was doing by playing Welbeck as in inside left last season.
It was never going to be an instant success but the boy needs time.

Welbeck has the potential to move up a couple of levels.
He can score goals, we know that from the 11/12 season. If he scored a couple of goals, early on this season... Who knows what could happen.
He is still a young guy and a confidence player.

Last season he was pants. And dont give me this 'oh well he works really hard for the team rubbish', he was just pants. Im willing to give him another season though.

Not 'golden boy', more like teachers pet (with the approval of most fans) The guy is homegrown and went through the academy, so you can understand him being a local favourite....BUT....now teacher has retired and it is whether the substitute teacher will need his red rosy apples or not... we shall see!
