Deepest condolences.
What a man, what a life. He played not too far up the road in Bootle after the war and nearly joined Everton I think.
City got a gem of a keeper there.
You have to think for a moment that this guy fought on the Eastern Front and then a decade or so later in an FA Cup final. Truly remarkable.

RIP.
What a stark contrast it is to have such an honourable football player that he could go through so much and still get on with the game, whereas today's modern players are moaning about being tired when they're playing two or three games in one week despite being paid hundreds of thousands of pounds!
RIP, Bert.
