Now to get rid of the deadwood.

So Benteke, having realised what a joke Spurs are, and seeing the door closed by Chelsea and Arsenal, has slunk back to Villa, embarrassed and head down. I'm glad that he is back in the fold as he was, let's be honest, awesome for us last season. However, the 'hero' status has gone forever. I will applaud his goals next season but will not be singing his name. Nobody else should be either. He is at Villa only because his options have ran out.

But .......Weimann, Clarke, Westwood, Lowton, Guzan, Baker, Carruthers and now Benteke have all signed improved contracts. At one time, it looked certain we would lose at least Benteke and Weimann. Now though, next season looks really exciting. Lambert's young. vibrant team has stayed together and they have grown together. Now they are a young, vibrant team, with some experience !!!!!

Not to mention, the additions of Tonev, Okari, Luna, Helenius and Bacuna. All of them, promising, young, hungry players with international experience. Let's not forget, Jed Steer too.

Now all that remains is to show the door to (or throw out of the door) Ireland, Hutton and Bent. The sooner the better

I can't believe it's only July and we look almost 'ready' to go. Well done Lambert.

Bit harsh calling Bent deadwood. He did a job for us when we needed it badly. He just does not fit into the way our team plays at all now.

I for one wish him well.

Ireland is just a waste of wage and Hutton was just a rank, bad signing. They are indeed the deadwood.

Agreed with Creeping Apathy. Bent as saved our backsides many times and his goals saved us from relegation the season he signed. We need to show the man respect- he hasn't carried on like a Prima Dona and slapped a transfer request on PL's desk. He wants to leave because, simply, he is too good to be sitting on a bench week in week out.

He was part of a team that were owned and embarrassed on their own pitch 4-0 by Spurs. Another mercenary one season wonder, who will be off like a shot the season after next, when he realises playing in the championship is not all that. He has just taken your team for mugs.

Of course, you finished well above us last season. We know.

But Spurs pretend and try to act like they are giants of the English game. They are not in the Champions League, I don't know when they last won a trophy. their stadium is not 'great' and Bale got you out of trouble many times last season. In terms of pretending to be 'giants', they ARE a joke.

A 'great' club would have just taken Benteke.from a 'smaller' club. But Levy acted like a small time chairman.

Bent is just unfortunate at Villa because he simply doesn't fit into the system lambert wants to play. He saved our bacon in his 1st season and I wish him the best.

As for Superman Ireland - Absolute utter waste of space. Worthless and lazy and just not right in the head and we haven't time for his antics.

Lion brad, if you are going to bring down another club atleast know the facts muppet. Spurs last trophy??? 2008 league cup. Aston villa last trophy??? 1996 league cup.... Not only are we miles ahead of you as a team but we have also won a trophy in recent years where as you ain't won one for 17 years now bury your head in the sand

You didn't read properly did you? - Muppet.

I already said that Spurs were well ahead of Villa. So what? Spurs are a joke because they believe they are giants when they are not. It's got NOTHING to do with Aston Villa. Again - Muppet.
