Squad

With the recent signing of Chadli, I thought I'd do an article on the squad as it stands, and see what that tells us about what still needs to be done in the transfer window.

GK: Lloris, Friedel
LB: BAE, Rose
CB: Dawson, Vertonghen, Kaboul, Caulker
RB: Walker, Naughton
CDM: Sandro, Parker
CM: Dembele, Paulinho, Holtby, Sigurdsson, Huddlestone, Carroll, Livermore
LW: Chadli*, Lennon*, Dempsey*
RW: Bale*, Townsend*
ST: Defoe, Adebayor

*Assuming AVB goes for inverted wingers.

This shows that we're pretty well covered across the park, and in pretty much every position there are two quality players providing competition for one another.

There are probably too many central midfielders at the moment and we could do with offloading one or two - most likely Huddlestone and one more?

Other than that, the only area I can see that needs any improvement in this window is obviously up front. If we can bring in a decent striker, then I don't see any other signings really being necessary.

What are your thoughts, have I missed anyone, or does the squad need improving in any positions in particular?

As we are Tottenham and have never been able to defend ( and probably never will), I'm in the score the winning goals camp.

TOOR,

Bale isn't a central midfielder
-----------------------------------------------------
I know that but AVB seems to prefer him in the attacking midfield area.
.....................................
That wouldn't be 433 then it would be 4231

Why?

We play 4-3-3 with an attacking midfielder, usually Suarez or Coutinho. 4-3-3 can work many ways, flat three, two back one forward, one back two forward, one back(DM) one a bit further (CM) and one further behind the striker(AM). The latter is the system Rodgers seems to prefer.

I was thinking your best team would be the following:-

----------------------------------Llrois----------------------------------
Walker---------------Kaboul------Vertonghan-------New LB
------------------------Dembele-----Sandro----------------------
-----Lennon-------------------Paulino------------------Bale
----------------------------------NEW ST--------------------------

Or if 4-3-3

------------------------------Sandro--------------------------------
------------------------Paulino-------Dembele----------------
------------Lennon---------NEW ST------------Bale

This is how I'd think we'd line up with paulinho box to box sandro siting back and dembele floating around

I don't know this Chadil player but do you think he'll be preferred over Lennon? I think Lennon's had the best two seasons of his career the past two seasons.

Chadli is a goalscoring winger, something like 25 goals in just 84 games for FC Twente.......which for a winger is a reasonable rate of return!

To put Chadli's goal record into perspective, Lennon has also scored 25 goals for Spurs.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

in 229 games!
