Moyes: I don't get it.

Why are many fans so positive the guy would flop for United? It seems to be regurgitated here again and again. I don't know if it's more wishful thinking than something his detractors actually believe. With the sort of talent he'll be working with, I don't see why he shouldn't handle the step-up to United quite well. I'm surprised many denigrate his Everton record considering what he's done for them. They may be like Nottingham Forest in the lower divisions without him over the years and he's progressively improved both their results and their style which is far more expansive and entertaining than many care to admit considering I saw them several times last season.

Too many on this board have been so quick to dismiss him in an attempt at one-upmanship against United fans. The slating of him for having the temerity to go after Cesc was amusing to see. Those who were crapping themself at the thought of the deal happening were putting up a non-too-convincing front suggesting they were certain the deal won't happen and he was being called embarrassing for even attempting it. I never knew it was so embarrassing for the manager of by far the biggest team in the biggest league in the world to attempt to prise away an expendable player in Barca.

It's early days yet and I'd suggest Moyes' detractors watch developments with a little more patience. One star away.
