I went to a stag do in Carlisle in about 1999.
The only thing I remember fifteen years on, is being on a dance floor somewhere and dancing in a very conceptual way to the song 'Lazy' by X-Press 2 ft David Byrne.
Tonight, Wanderers play their penultimate pre-season game at Carlisle United.
Woah, I'm naked and I'm lazy.

Oh come on Benny - it's only pre season, which is time to try players, get fitness levels up and try a few tactical formations out!!
Oh wait a minute, that's what I said last pre season, and got destroyed for it!!!
The DF lovers will be drooling still, so don't worry mate, your Armageddon prediction won't come true

Benny, it's maddening how much stock you put in pre-season games mate!
Just like last season, I will say, let us identify trends over a period of time before being unhappy about the state of something.
I haven't seen a single second of any of the three pre-season games so far but history tells us actual results in pre-season don't have much relationship with what happens during the season itself.
If we can't keep the ball or can't create chances or aren't pushing out after corners or some other actual football problem in the pre-season games, that carries on into the season proper, then fair enough, but the results themselves are meaningless in isolation IMO.
It's still a case of wait and see, for me. If we'd won all three pre-season games 5-0 I might be a bit more excited about the new season, but losing by the odd goal when you are building squad fitness, trying different things out, and giving people a game who won't be anywhere near a fit, first choice XI, is something a bit different.

Careful LH.
That comment made far too much sense. That isn't allowed you know!

I'm sat with my pants off its way too hot. I'm going to go to the real betis game to find out what problems we have 1st hand. Not sure though how useful a game against a la liga side is in preparation for the championship. A good start is vital this season we can't be playing catch up again. Hopefully Lee and holden will be fit and available for burnley a bit of quality we have not had so far this season. Cef I've never made an Armageddon prediction but I have to agree with him if we don't go up this season then it will only be a matter of time.

Benny, I know it was nuns who made that prediction. I just know you agree with him.
I'm only messing tbh. I think we'll do we'll this season.
It just makes me chuckle that some of our fans are so fickle and duplicitous.
LH - still far too much info. No wonder there are no clean sheets

Ok lads, yes me n Benny do agree on a lot, we have stood side by side for nearly 30 years so that's probably gonna happen. But I do agree with Benny , we have lost a lot of quality, in fact we are were in about 1999 in my one opinion.
I understand were DF is in terms of quality signings etc and our standings.
But can we intergrate a compete new back four,I hope so but lets play that back four now.
We have a decent championship on paper a good midfield to select from, but Im not sure what it is are you?
Up front a selection of strikers who I could not bank on scoring goals to win us enough games.
Armegeddon,I don't want it,but one more season of this n were in big trouble lads.

12 months ago we had serious issues from the previous season which we needed to see signs of purposeful action. We had had 12 months of excuses that rolled into preseason and then into the season.
Yes it's disappointing to not win these games and yes there are still issues especially at the back. However the difference is after the end of the season and the actual acknowledgement of problems we are more inclined to trust the manager to get it right. Unlike last season when the level of doubt that things could and would change under coyle was high. Coyle had a point to prove and messed it up and I hope bar two games this season he has learnt from his mistakes and does well. Now we have DF and he has not even done 12 months yet. Mopping up disasters sometimes take longer than you think. The right man at CB for us may not be available this window.

Juyst think back to when DF arrived, he chopped and changed the team and not many of us liked the results. However after trying out different players and training hard on the way he wanted each player to play, results were much better. He has brought in new players and he is doing the same now as when he came in, getting players fit and moulding them into a team who can get results. Hopefully that will happen at Burnley and continue throughout the season.
