Liverpool have shot themselves in the foot

Well, well. We now know what Suarez's £40M clause was all about. Numerous outlets are now claiming that if Suarez wishes to, he will be given permission to speak to Arsenal.

There were reports earlier today claiming that Suarez will not feature in the Liverpool friendly which he was scheduled to play in tomorrow. It seems like we may talk to him as early as then.

There is nothing Liverpool can do about this, now. They are fuming with our offer and it's because they know the next step is in our hands. We can now make Arsenal seem as appealing as possible to Suarez, we can agree all terms with him and we can send him back to Liverpool to start moaning and whining and kicking up a fuss, descending his ridiculous, obscene asking price in the process.

£40M may not be enough but there is no way in hell that Liverpool are going to squeeze £55M out of us. I can see us going to £45M (if they are lucky) and that will be that. Madrid will not offer anywhere near £35M and FSW, being the money hungry Americans that they are, are not going to entertain that bid.

Although the £40M clause is not a release clause, it can technically prove to be as good as one. Once Suarez talks to us, there is no way he is going to want to go back to Pool. As Ornstein pointed out earlier today, he is open and interested in playing for Arsenal and wants CL football. We can give him that.
