Welbeck is useless in front of goal tbh and needs to improve a lot. He gets a lot of sypathy from the United faithful.

Tbh, Welbeck's only problem is he seems to lack any natural strikers instincts. Oh plus he lacks the shooting technique that RVP, Rooney possess. Furthermore he lacks any form of composure in front of goal and his footwork is a bit Heskey-like

Other than that, he is a potential goal scoring machine

I think Welbeck could be a decent striker given games and time, however, I don't think he'll get that at United. He may be a decent squad player for us over the years, providing he's happy to play that role, but I just don't see enough in him to ever be our main striker for the long term.

He looked promising the season before last and was forming a decent partnership with Rooney but as soon as a far superior player became available we ditched the idea of having him and Rooney become our strike force, and you have to question why that is?

And the obvious answer is that Welbeck isn't seen as indispensable, and I don't think he ever will be.

I bet in a few years time when RVP starts getting towards the end of his peak we will go for a big name striker again.

The problem with Welbeck is that he is not as good as people believe. If he was lets say from France, would our fans be as relaxed about him? His finishing is too poor to be a player United need. When RVP is coming towards the end of his career here, Utd will need a big name replacement. I have more hope for Hernandez than Welbeck. I don't think Hernandez will be the greatest player but I see him improving just a bit more. And as he is a natural scorer, he really could become a good player for us. Kagawa behind Hernandez if RVP is injured could work.

Yeah, I agree.

Welbeck can improve and probably will, especially his composure in front of goal which often gets better as players getting older and more confident.

However, as I've said, I don't think his improvement will ever be to the level required to become the main striker at United, and why I think we will sign a big name striker in a few years time.

I think Welbeck gets a harsh deal from some people but on the flip side also gets completely over hyped by others.

Naturally I'm going to assume my opinion of him is fairly objective, but I don't think any of what I've posted falls in to either of those categories.

Yeah I agree with you. I think Welbeck maybe is more tailored to the inside left role. Maybe he could be more effective there?

I actually really like Welbeck. Saying that, he probably will never be first choice at United.

It's strange really, I never thought he would amount to much back when he was 18/19, then after the 11/12 season I thought he had the ability to push on and significantly improve. Now I'm not really convinced, although the lack of game time doesn't help.

The one thing that he has going for him is that he isn't afraid to try a trick, and the more he tries the better he will become.

His finishing is a bit of a worry, although it has been since he was 17, and doesn't seem to have improved. I seem to remember Rooney's finishing was questioned when he was that age, and his was significantly better than Welbeck's.

Perhaps, I don't really like Welbeck playing wide.

As a United player his best form has come playing up top and acting as a foil for Rooney. Problem is that his finishing was/is an issue and the chances of him acting as a foil to get the best from Rooney does not ever look like materialising now we have RVP and Rooney's future is in question.

I have no idea what the future holds for the boy. He can certainly improve on last season though as he was pretty woeful.

Hi guys I am new here. Nice to meet you all. In regards to the discussion, I think Welbeck is a decent player but I am not sure if he will ever be good enough to be a first team player.

I think Welbeck will sign for QPR when they get promoted. Perfect replacement for Remy.
