Even when playing the likes of motherwell, if there's anything we've learnt from pre-season, its been:
1. Paterson looks pretty good, and a threat at any time.
2. Derbyshire can actually score goals, not just fall quicker than gravity.
3. Hobbs looks solid, and has a good head on him.
4. Lichaj seems solid, enough to either compete or outplay jara for RB.
5. Collins needs shipping, hes a constant weak link.
6. Doris seems solid enough to either compete or outplay darlow
7. Fawas is not just talking the talk, but walking the walk.
Just like movie trailers, the final package may be alot different to whats advertised, but the progression is there to see.
What we have learned from pre-season.

Yeah but with those you mentioned plus are two new addition and more to come we have a much better chance than last year. This time Billy is starting from day one and not 15 games to go. Big big difference

Collins is proper dodgy man. Kelvin Wilson at cb would be good especially after his trip to Celtic. I reckon he could boss the defence for us.

Got a feeling Wilson will come, especially as it has now gone so quiet over Wes. We still lack that 20+ as season striker although all our forwards will get better service this year with the wingers we have bought. Even Dex might score a few more!

Still think we're making the bin robbers sweat over Wes. They need to reduce their costs big time and they can't shift the dead wood. Come close to the wire I think they will have to accept a good offer from us on Wes.

David Johnson was our last 20 goal a season man! 15 would do as it looks like we've got plenty of goals in midfield again.

8. The strike force is not good enough

Paterson looks exciting! Very confident and also direct.

this comment is NOT just a reflection on this thread but i see these kind of comments all over the web etc
Why and where does the notion come from that 20+ goals a season is a landmark of a striker that forest have to buy, its nonsense! we need 11 good players on the pitch playing well every week
if one of them scores 12-15 goals i would be happy!
we have 7 strikers/forwards all of whom have shown at other clubs at this level or above that they are capable of very good performances. For example if Ishmael Miller were to come of the bench just 3 times this coming season and score turning a draw into a win i would be more than happy - only 3 goals but 9 points! fantastic
DJ did bang to 20 goals but we did not get promoted that year! Cardiff won the league with out a so called 20 goal a season man

Fawaz will show that he can walk the walk throughout the season too. In the rough patches, that will be the time he proves himself.
We had a great pre-season last year too.
