...of me!!!
Hello Chaps, how has everyones summer been so far?
Well, what a disaster yesterday was but its not like people didnt see that coming. I wasnt at the game but as soon as i heard Fontaine, Nyatanga and Skuse i knew a hiding was on the cards.
As R/p says, it was village. After recruiting not one centre back, i was sure Keef would line up a solid midfield with Cisse and Marv. Me, i would have fielded a 4-3-3 and will do until replacements arrive. Forget stretching the weak midfield with wingers.
I feel for Keef, he hasnt and never will get the full backing of the fans and i want him to succed as he is a City man. However, i cited fears in December that he was looking to curry favour with the fans but making certain statements about players and the style of play. First rule, dont even consider picking a team to please the fans. Dropping LJ and then buying a similar player is just a sorry reflection on what Keef is trying to do.
Like a few on the old 606, i have been concerned with the defence for a few seasons now. Others were concerned with midfield, but for me that was never a major issue. Defence has been a problem for 18 months and now, its a crisis. We need leaders and surely these players exist in the lower leagues. Why is Keep trying and compete with premier league clubs for signings, we arent going to win those battles. Its a noble effort but a forlorn one. Dont get me started on Skuse, i have never rated him and never will and how did Fonts get to be captain??? Bad bad decisions Keef.
Oh I long for the days of a solid city team winning one nil with the ground bouncing to GJ's tune. To the few who booed during those good times, you were warned, many times. On your head be it!!!
Ahh, its good to be back!
Come on Keef, the heat is on!
Up the Reds!

He needs to go Redside, it's early in the season and some feel he needs 10 games....you know my view which was aired 9 months ago...
10 games could be a disaster that might be differcult to reverse...

It doesnt give you much confidence when a manager picks a side that is, so obviously, inadequate Onefor so im inclined to agree. Flying wingers and Skuse in front of what is probably the worst central defensive pair in the league. Its bonkers, utter bonkers. Hopefully, he will corrrect this against Swindon and get a win, which should boost confidence.

Redside totally agree. That team selection has probably in 1 go lost Keef more support than any decision over the previous year.
Like you I am astounded that anyone with any sort of Knowledge of our players could pick such a team and then say they didn't see it coming.
After that team selection I am struggling to have faith in the manager at all after supporting him consistently since he took over. I thought I might be over-reacting at first but 2 days later I still am absolutely dumbfounded by it.
I regard myself as one of the more moderate people on these boards, neither quick to criticize nor unrealistically optimistic and its never nice to admit one is wrong but maybe this time my support of Millen has been misguided. A fresh approach is needed and soon.

I've always tried to support the incumbant manager, but I cannot comment positively about either our pre-season or Saturdays result.
Looking at the team selection it looks like Milly has lost the plot.

I was surprised to see Cisse omitted in favour of Skuse as I don't see him as an effective Central Midfield player perhaps he needs to concentrate on playing as a defender because as a Defensive Midfielder he has no idea how to defend, now I could be doing him an injustice as last year I didn't see too many games but those I did he was almost nonexistant in.
One point here I'm not sure if it is true but Sky seems to think we are after a young CB from moneybags Man City My neighbour who follows Man City rates this lad quite highly thinks he hould be going on loan to a prem club if we get him that might be the first step in building a defence.
